super awesome technique it's great the tyflow modifiers work in the free version, but also it would be nice to see the native volume select updated to match modern expectations of procedural selections love max's recent updates but it's always (imo deservedly) had the rep of being behind the times cos of barely updated tools like that anyway, here's to a brighter future 😁

Thank you, and yes, years ago I made a mockup for the ultimate Selector modifier

You can select bordering vertices by only using native tools. Select polygons on the front by enabling angle selection (angle like 60 should give you selection of the whole front faces of your object), then shift+click on edge selection (this will select all outer edges of the selected polygons) then Ctrl+click on vertex selection and it will select all vertices on the edges. Easier thatn using tyflow

then I could also select the borders with Poly Select. But also then I would constantly need to re-select them manually. For this workflow I wanted an automatic way to update the selection also when the base geometry changes.

nice, a workaround if you don't have tyflow is to select the borders and move that instead of the vertices, or well, convert selection to vertex, from the right clic menu, 👌

then however you would have to do this every time again when you have painted more surface triangles and loose some of the procedural attempt of the workflow..

You need to voice act moovies and videogames! Uve got a nice voice for some storyteller or wizard-like types.
