Hey Leon, quick question. How long do you let the base coat dry until you apply the chipping fluid? Thanks man
@AirandGroundinScale
@AirandGroundinScale 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the color brand. But in general I let it cure as long as possible. That means I try to end my modelling session by finishing the base coat. Because it already happened to me, that when i was in the chipping process, that i scratched the surface, what i think wouldn‘t have happened when i left it longer to cure. This happened with mission model paints - acrylic paints. But i think with lacquer paints you can continue after several minutes...

1:53 Your paint is too thick and pressure too low... Painting looks like covering with dust... Remember when you thin paint you lower pressure... Thinn paint and high pressure leds to weting and spider legs effect...
@AirandGroundinScale
@AirandGroundinScale 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment! The Mission Model Paints are pretty thick, but don't spray well if they are too much thinned. Yes, it looks like spraying dust :) but after several passes it has a good coverage and nice finish. I haven't had the problem of wetting or spiderlegs. But the Polyurethane additive I have, isn't usable anymore. So I fought with a dry Airbrushtip and at low airpressure it was getting worse, so I cranked it up and it worked for me. But I have to say I'm used to Tamiya, Mr.Paint and other lacquer based paints, which are in my opinion much easier to spray...

You CANT spray the primer without the thinner. The thinner ACTIVATES the primer. Read the manual before talking
@AirandGroundinScale
@AirandGroundinScale 3 жыл бұрын
:D your absolutely right, I should have mentioned in a disclaimer, that on the Website of Mission Models it is written, that the thinner activates the primer. But in this situation it worked absolutely fine for me without thinner. After I emptied the first Airbrush-cup, I was too lazy to mix a new one, so I poured the primer directly from the bottle into the Airbrush :-O Even after several layers of paint over the primer, the paint still holds on to the model and it has still a nice surface. Perhaps I got lucky... Again, to all the viewers!!!: As @Czaczaja mentioned, you CAN'T spray the primer WITHOUT the thinner!!! :D

@@AirandGroundinScale haha. Im sorry those MM paints have given me so much headache and I ended up pulling them out of the trash can so many times and they just wont work!
@AirandGroundinScale
@AirandGroundinScale 3 жыл бұрын
@@czaczaja Thank you for your answer! And I agree! MM paints CAN be nice to spray, IF you got the right ratio of paint to thinner to airpressure. It is even different between the colors themselves. I often start with adding only about 15% thinner and a very low airpressure. Then I dial in those two factors until I'm happy with the result. I often struggle because I added too much thinner to MM Paints. Mr. Color and Mr. Paint are MUCH easier to handle in my opinion...
