Collective noun for geese is I believe a 'gaggle'. I can almost hear the loud calls from a good sized over flight of geese by seeing this painting. Noisy, sometimes too noisy....LOL It's a gathering of crows that have an unpleasant noun, it's a 'murder' of crows. How it came to be called that, I've no idea. I don't know how many times I've been shown and told about leaving white paper to give the impression of reflected light, but as yet, I still haven't remembered that when painting. One of these days eh? I have to ask, could you not sleep? I mean 0445 hrs I got this... LOL Loving the bright blue of the sky. Just as it is on a clear winter's day. Just s suggestion Morgaine, have you ever considered painting an underwater view. A lake, or river bed, with weeds and other creatures? Don't let me put ideas in you head, it was just a question really. One of my 1st watercolour paintings was of a Perch hovering over a sunken brown ale bottle, and a few scattered stones and reeds. Long since lost that pic from a time when all I had created for some 22 years was stolen by a druggy😟😟. I didn't paint for a decade after that. Anyway, I paint again now now, all be it infrequently, and with a lost passion. The process keeps me sane, watching as much as actually taking part. Many thanks for bringing this one to our screens. Be well sweet lady. TTFN.

Graham Nash Are you not a painter yourself? I swear you're name is familiar. Some years ago when I had been getting my hands on painting books.

Beautiful painting and a generous, detailed tutorial with so much information. For me the best part is your soft, hypnotic voice. I'm in a trance. Incidentally, Canada geese (Canadian here 🇨🇦) fly in a V-formation with the point of the V facing in the direction of flight, so technically it looks as if they're flying away from us.

Lovely tutorial! From Birdfact: Geese have many different collective nouns, which change depending on where they are. For example, when on the ground or in the water, they are often referred to as a gaggle of geese. In flight, a group of geese is called a skein, team or wedge. On the water or flying close together, a wedge of geese. The most generic term that can apply to geese anywhere is a flock.

Wishing you well and many blessings from across the pond....Rus from Pennsylvania ❤️🎨🖌😊....PS > ....a group of Geese is called a "Flock" or a "Gaggle" But if they are flying they are called a "Skein" of Geese 🦤🪶🪿

I think the word you used- gathering - is fine as it got the idea across. There are more than 20 names for a group of geese. The most generic term is probably a flock of geese. A group on the ground or in water is typically called a gaggle. When in flight, the terms flock, skein or team are used. When flying in tight formation, they are more specifically called a wedge. Sometimes I can’t help but chuckle over the bits of things I’ve picked up over the years listening to my kids talk about their school work….

Adding to my previous comment, l'm envious of your humid climate. It's so arid where l live that the paint starts to dry before l can finish all the steps, which makes me rush and anxious, and make more mistakes. Would continuous spritzing alleviate the problem? Thanks!

I'm in Australia and have the same problem. I dampen the back of the paper first with a wet sponge. That definitely helps.
