Paint Shop Broke My Car - Widebody E39 540i

This video goes over some of the issues regarding things that were broken in the time that the paint shop had my widebody E39 540i. As a whole they it's how the shop handled everything after the fact that still makes me appreciate using their services.

U know what, painter shouldve known its a older car and sometimes removing certain pannels, Plastic clips, Brackets most likely brittle. My e46 inner tail lighy came off once when i closed the trunk and i have broken some small clips in the engine while working on it. End ofnthe day, bad idea to take aaprt older cars for that reason. Btw why did he remove the seats for paint tho ??

How common is so much broken stuff when you get your car back from full tear down and repaint.

@@zeek8754 i imagine stuff like this happens. But ultimately it’s how the shops handle it after the fact. My painter handle my situation beautifully and I don’t think there’s more he could do to make up for it. I am happy with the overall job and satisfied with how everything has been handled.

Everything should have been inspected first and any areas which could become damaged during being taken apart would be noted and replacements sought when they did break. You should always expect your car back in the same or better condition. Any invasive work which could result in damage should be agreed in advance as should the liability for the costs, failure to do this puts the liability squarely on the paint shop, this is their profession they are expected to know the requirements, you as a customer are not. For me this is incompetence on the behalf of whatever mechanic (and I think that is a very generous thing to call him). Corners were cut at every stage. I would take it to another paint shop and have the paint job inspected. Most will happily advise you on what is good, bad and what you can do about it and your rights as a customer, don't be fooled by a friendly garage owner after they just caused thousands in damage to your car, of course he is going to be friendly you have him red handed for large money. You should take your car to BMW or a BMW specialist and have them fix it, then send the paint shop the bill.
