It really does create a level of special depth you can't get from multi layered painting, mashing all those colours together and blending them is as satisfying as getting your hands stuck in paint :D

Painting on one layer isn't so scary - try using the brush with colour as your eraser, think of it like that instead and it makes the approach much nicer. Think of the process methodically but remember to just lay down lots of colour and have a ton of fun at the same time! Now I do it all the time and I find it harder to seperate layers!

Tip for 1 Layer painting: -Brush Tool -Water Tool -Blur Tool (optional) -Pen Tool (for bold lines and or areas) -Airbrush Took (for soft shading) IMO, water tool is easier for me than the brush tool.

I honestly think one layer is easier then managing multiple, especially when the background/environment is really simple. There's no transparency issues, hidden errors, etc. If you wanna move something around you just crop it over and paint the gaps. Faster too.

Have you ever tried to draw on one layer, no, didn't think so. It's extremely difficult to draw on one layer in SAI, why, cause all of your lines get covered up and you don't know where to color, okay.
