I'm sure you can look up a lot of videos on painting skin/faces - I think the biggest mistake you made here was starting off with a lighter flesh tone. Gotta start with something like Bugman's Glow or a nice chestnut/red brown color, then flesh wash, then paint up from there to make faces that have some depth. The hair was also a bit one-note and lacked depth, translucent paint (i.e. painting in two thin coats) can give you a LOT of tools and leeway to make things have depth. I'm doing a recon unit of the Daughters of Horus so I've learned quite a bit about underpainting and skin since taking that project on, it really helps elevate your painting skills from "flat one color wash highlight" to using a lot of different color combinations to make a project really stand out. I always paint the heads separate whether it's helmet or skin but I also don't do the lighting effects when it comes to shading for the armor or helmet because I'm not trying to win any awards with any of my paint jobs my models are all for just basic playable display four being on the table top but with those ones you messed up with the primer I would say scar tissue or Staples for certain raised areas to give the head a little bit of character so to speak

This doesn't really have anything to do with female Space Marines/Custodes, i just wanted to mention that I'd like to make my own custom Nurgle-corrupted Drukhari army someday if I ever get the chance to (or if I had enough to spend on models and bits) Any ideas or suggestions on how I could make that idea into a reality? Just wondering

My issue isn't with female custards...it's with the half-assed 'oh nah, there was always female custards'. And GW thinking suddenly having female custards will dig them out of the hole they're falling down, rather than actually fixing the codexes and game balance. Whether canon or not, I don't care what you do so long as they aren't modelled for an advantage on the table. The models come unassembled and unpainted, which to me is an open creative license.

I don't think anyone likes having parts of a hobby forced upon them and shoehorned in. It's a big reason I've moved away from a lot of GW products, from lore to rules to models. The universe is a great framework and the models are awesome, but I try and keep it at that

@@randomjester9983no they still aren't cannon having a story blurb in the codex doesn't make them cannon if that were true then my favorite space marine chapter the Iron Snakes would also be cannon as they are a book only ultramarine chapter. if they had a named character model or even just a squad of character models then i would have to say they are cannon, but given the fact that GW did this to appease amazon thats not going to happen

Honestly, if that's what you want to do with your models, go for it. It doesn't offend me if you do that shit because they're your models, not mine. I personally think that the idea that a space marine would decide to go trans is ridiculous, because he's a soldier, and nothing else. But that's just it. The whole hobby is ridiculous, and you shouldn't give a shit about what others think.

I'm actually pretty good in blender, so I crafted up some female custodies. When I finished printing them, people complained. "They're showing too much skin" and "their posed like strippers" where the common complaints I was getting. And yes, a few of them were doing pole dancing poses on the spears... But the common thread is that people didn't like how sexualized they were. And I said, "if they are actually genetically perfect people, then they would be mind-blowingly beautiful." Still, a vocal minority still seem to have a problem with it, but they re just haters . Just goes to show you, no matter what you do, some joyless Karen is always going to jump in and tell you that you need to do things their way.
