Beautiful! I’m not very good at circle drawing…but I’ll give it a try…it’ll be good practice 😂❤

How lovely! I think that I will do this soon, as it will encourage me to be looser with art, instead of frustrating myself trying to get everything perfect. Thanks for this beautiful lesson. When I'm done, I may hang it over my desk to remind me of the beauty in "free"! ❤️

Lou….thanks so much for all these pattern and colour scheme ideas. I got this idea in my head now to start a sketchbook for reference and inspiration compiling colour schemes and painting a pattern with it to show all the variations.

I see why you favour the buff colour - it bleeds prettily into the neighbouring colours. I thought it would be bled into, but it's a bold thing and pushes itself into greens and blues. Cool!

Yes, you could think it was a boring colour but it adds something really different to paintings when I use it.

I'm such a gold lover! Such pretty colors. I get really stuck and picky some times and don't know which color to do next and being so analytical sometimes takes the fun out of it! I'm gonna try to not be so anal about such things! Thanks for sharing! Love your videos. Thanks for sharing!❤❤❤

If you like the aesthetics of the circles check out bokeh painting. Essentially it is mimicking the effect of a macro lens for out of focus backgrounds. it's quite easy to achieve, one of the simplest methods is the create a "stamp" using a tissue and a coin and simply lift paint out of a wet in wet background before it dries. It can be a good painting exercise as well as the effect is quite different depending on the pigment/paper, how wet the paper/paint is, and how long you wait before lifting. You can also tint over the top once dry with thin glazes. Basically the reverse of what you are doing here. I'm a firm believer that "playing" with your paints teaches you as much or more than any tutorial.

This one too, I like very much, very simple but thanks to the mergers full of character, and the interrupted circles give a boost to the model. I also like to enhance with a little gold paint, or make rough traces with this paint and a brush almost dry, the finish is neat and expressive, thank you.

Do you prep your paper first bit wetting it and letting it dry?
@LouDavis4 ай бұрын
Not in this case - I was painting on a watercolour block where the paper is gummed on four sides so you don't need to stretch it.

Lovely and so interesting. Name of detail implement, please? (New to me.)

The detail brush? That’s a gerstaeker mini liner brush. The link is in the description box.
