Paint your car at home PART 5 (spraying the color)

Ive been telling you guys that spraying the paint is the smallest quickest part of this entire deal. And it really is. I lost some footage unfortunately but you get the picture. Good job you chose this Grabber Blue,, it'll be safe now from the DEW's.. there's really handy gallon lids at the paint shop that come with spouts set in them, makes for an easier pour. Another thing i learned painting was to bring in the garden hose before you spray & being careful not to wet the body & mist on a light layer of water onto the floor..it keeps the fine dust down when you're dragging the hose & shuffling around with your shoes & the overspray is attracted to the wet floor so it sits down quickly & reduces some of your overspray. Nice job! Can you recommend a good 2 stage air compressor that can keep up with air sanders and sandblasting? Have you ever used a millermatic 250x welder? Did you get good results? Thank you

I just have a 60 gallon single stage cobalt compressor. It gives me plenty volume for painting or sanding. As for the millermatic, I used to work for a shop that had one and it was a work horse! Great machines!

Looks great i have a 70 M code i am restoring but i have a few questions. Will the 69 tailight panel fit the 70 ? Also in the drip rail area is there a lip from the inside roof panel like the 67-68 cause mine is rusted in these area's and i am not sure if it has the rail lip on inside for the window seal to seat against?

Hi Shawna! A 69 tail light panel WILL fit a 70. I actually prefer the 69 panel, myself. And yes, the drip rail is the same construction like you are talking about. It’s where they pinch weld the roof skin to the inner structure.

@@rdspeedfab If you are going to run a 69-taillight panel you will need to swap out the end cap as well to match the concave shape of the taillight panel. The taillights also need to be swapped.

Rob, what filter mask are you using? I am thinking of the 3M 60926 P100 which filters out VOCs and dust particulates. Oh, one more point. Grabber Blue looks AWESOME !!!!!!!!

dynacorn makes the assemblies pre welded and in kits but i dont know if they can sell just the parts i need =(

Yeah I think that’s the only way to get it or cut it out of a donor car, unfortunately. A good sheet metal guy could recreate one probably. But finding a donor is probably the best and easiest way
