JT ProFlex X Review: The Best ProFlex?

For more than 25 years JT Paintball have been at the top of the paintball mask game, they brought us the Whippersnapper and the ever-popular ProFlex.

Since the original ProFlex’s released 20+ years ago it’s barely changed, we have seen minor google frame changes, and the newest version uses rubber ears over the old foam system. Everyone loved the Flex it’s comfortable, has superior ventilation, and its stylin’, the only issue...the lens, or more so the goggle frame. The system that holds the lens in on the original ProFlex is awful, it difficult to remove lenses and it takes a long time. After all these years JT have finally updated the ProFlex, with the ProFlex X and the Premise goggle frame.
The Premise frame is much more modern, it only takes seconds to remove the lenses, just like all the other modern paintball masks. The good news is that the new mask still takes the original and updated (better quality) Spectra lens.
I am a sucker for these masks, I have always been a huge fan of the ProFlex line of masks. I have had a ProFlex, ProShield, Spectra, E-Flex, and I’m sure I’m forgetting something else. They are all great, but I'm still not sure that I will be ditching my E-Flex.

I've used A LOT of masks out there and I've definitely never worn anything more comfortable, breathable, or better communicating than the Bunkerkings CMD. I definitely still like the feel of the original proflex's though!

I got mine a week ago and wore it to the field yesterday, I'm very happy with it. Used to wear eflexs but the Spectra lens is much better than events lenses

I’ve worn pro flex for over 20 years. Always loved how they felt and that they were able to cover my fat face and head. Just recently I tried on the new proflexX and to be honest i felt it was way too tight over my nose and under my eyes. The strap I felt was too short. It needed more slack to help with the overall tightness of the mask. The ear protection did bother my ears and side of my head but when I put my hat on it seemed ok. Overall if they put a longer strap and possibly some tight of foam around the ears it would be a ideal mask

#PBQT Do you know if the FL model of the infamous silencio barrel tip is still in production? I've looked for months, but it's sold out everywhere and I really want to replace my bent carbon fibre model (don't really care to buy a new shaft every year).

proflex will be my all time favorite. yeah, putting lens can be a ass. but it's one of the few mask you can customize. proflex x is basically a update version of a flex 8

Nothing beats the E-Flex. Easy to work on, the best foam on any mask, and extreme breathability. And of course the BEST looking mask.

I'm sticking with my E-Flex goggles. I used to use the JT Proflex back in the early to late 2000's, and favored them since they were very light, comfortable, and flexible as compared to other masks but I agree, the lense was a bitch to remove and clean, not the funnest thing to have to partially clean the lense between quick games at a tournament. I then moved onto the empire e vents, but I didnt like the fact that you didnt have absolutely any ventilation in front of the mouth. Now that Im back int paintball, I absolutely love the empire eflex, I get the best of both worlds from the proflex and e vents. I dont see any reason to change, and honestly, my heart is still with empire products. NPS used to treat me very well, and even tho that company has been long gone, I still love the brand and will still use it since GI Sports has continued those lines of products.

I loved my old Proflex but I needed to replace the lens and somehow ended up buying an i4. The i4 isn't perfect but I still use it and I like it. Now that the i5 is out it seems that parts are cheaper for the i4

Yes you can remove the bottom from the goggle frame. I have seen different colored versions but not sure if or when they will be releasing them.

People preferred the proflex over the eflex because of the terrible nose foam area on the eflex and bad visibility caused by the lense gasket.

I still love the flex 8 !it’s my favorite mask (but the ears are not very comfy ) and I installed chrome lens when I was working at velocity paintball park and yeah it’s nearly impossible to switch lens I’ve never attempted it again since.

I used some laundry fabric softener. It loosened up the material and made it smell nice!

I still rock Proshields. The most comfortable foam, excellent visibility and breathability. The E-Flex frames are just weeiiird. Can't see nearly as well. Just rock a clear thermal Spectra lens, good to go. Replacing lenses isn't super quick, buuuut clear is all I have ever personally needed.

i agree. for all the strife about changing proflex lenses, I rarely change them. Maybe just s few times a year.

I played with the Proflex X this past weekend. 3 CONS: 1. I have a pretty fat note and the mask folds my nose in a weird way (partly my fault lol) 2. The comfort on the ears are terrible! The end clips of the lens sit on your ears. The shape of the lens is literally pinching your ears in. 3. The strap doesn’t conform to the ear piece. PROS: Changing out the lens and foam is suuuuper easy.

It's true. PLUS.........you can buy old proflexes so cheap I have three sets. Each with a different lens. Clear for dark or overcast, amber for bush, smoke for bright sun. I never change lenses I just change masks. It's still cheaper than buying one new modern mask lol.

@ inphrit the emek 100 pro is the PAL enabled EMEK. It uses the extra air after each shot to move the paint in the hopper for smoother feeding without using an electric assisted hopper. Hope this helps.

Planet Eclipse does not make the EMek Pro. Some retailers are taking the EMek adding a few upgrades and calling it the Pro. So it's going to come with a better barrel and the Pops on/off.

Comfort around the ears is what concerns me the most with this goggle as the yellow tabs look like they will press against your ears.

2023 lol! Extravaganza will reveal the new lv. For the x flex I don't mind the feel but that shiny black frame looks cheap as crap in person. Seems to breathe fine. Someone below commented about the "lack of ear protection". To that I say, "huh"? They cover your ears.

I was disappointed in the comfort level of the Proflex X, But then i realized that it's not an uncomfortable mask, it's just impossible to match the comfort of a proflex! I realized the other day that the flex X feels just like my virtue ascends to me... But now with a better lense, better breathing, and better hearing.

Ever taken a ball to the mouth with this mask on? I have eaten some paint in my i5. I would be worried about taking one to the face in that mask but I do want something that breathes better

Yes I've been shot in the face many times. You can get paint in your mouth and it may taste mildy unpleasant for 10-15 seconds.

Air flow and face protection are two opposite sides of the coin. More of one, means less of another. Personally, being able to breath, stay cool and not fog up are infinitely more valuable on the field that maybe having to wipe paint off your face. In my opinion anyway.

Why didn't they just make the frames a separate unit? They could have sold a LOT of them. This just sacrificed one feature for others. Tsk tsk. I've said this before. If you love the proflex but hate changing lenses......do what I did. I have three proflexes since they're so cheap. I put a different lens in each one and grab the one I want to use. Amber for bush, smoke for bright sun, clear for dark conditions. Still cost me less money than most new masks.

This feels like they only half-assed the "easy to change lens proflex". The ears are weird and dont wrap around the strap, the lack of compatibility, and the ugly frames just doesnt do it for me.

Just a couple problems. I hate when even proflex users say the lenses are hard to change. With a little practice I can change them almost as fast as my grills it's not that bad. Personally I think they should have named it's the flex 8 x. Resembles and f8 much more and I think OG flex guys wouldn't hate on it as much because you're not comparing it to a proflex

Empire has been trying to destroy the image of their JT line since they acquired it. This product seems like another jab at that. Such poor execution and complete lack of understanding willfully or otherwise about what makes the original pro flex so popular it’s the iconic look and feel. You can’t replace that. Also no one but pros are changing out $50 lenses

The lense system is what kept me away from the hassle of it. Coming from KLR and Grillz to Proflex and then to Push and CMD Proflex has the worst lense system. Changing it out about once every 2 months ain't a biggy. It's a nice update in my view
