For more than 50 years, I have passed a field with a woods butting up to the back of the field in the distance. And, every time I go by, I wondered how i could paint it. How awesome it is to have caught this video. ❤

I watch a few of who I think are the best painters on the net. You are one of them and let me say thank you. Thank you for teaching me for free. I don't have money and I am sick a lot. Education is so important and art is so important, in our lives. I learn so much just watching and listening. Bless you.

Susan Jerrell, I strongly concur! I am not at my healthiest unfortunately either. I never know what will vary from one day to the next between having Crohn's Disease and a severely damaged spinal column which is replaced periodically with titanium as the discs & vertabrae crumble. I want to let you know you're not alone in regards to feeling unwell at times, but also, like yourself - I too love art! Watching Steve, (amongst some other KZbin artists, but Steve is for sure my favorite watercolorist!) gives me hope, enthusiasm and courage! I adore learning new things like a child who is constantly hungry. I'm quite thankful for the technology we have, the freedoms & the blessing of the ability to watch people like Steve and Marty and Lisa Clough, (Lachri,) Danica Stills & Audra Auclair! Fellow artists are like a special kind of family. I'm happy we can all share our knowledge and experiences with one another, continue to learn & grow. I hope you have more good days than difficult days regarding your health. One day at a time, each a gift! Blessings, - B.

This painting has dredged up lots of memories for me. We used to live in a suburb of Chicago and we'd drive through a forest preserve on the way to and from church every Sunday. These gray, bare trees were what I saw from the back seat of the car when I was very young. I guess that's what is so special about art. It touches us on such an emotional level. Those emotions aren't the same for everyone. This was a great tutorial. I'm loving landscapes right now.

This is pretty much why I came to your channel, initially, and why I kept coming back. I could turn the sound off and just learn from watching, but the audio commentary is the priceless gem of a demo like this. Your finesse with those trees is enviable, for sure. Stunning work, as always, and really appreciate the timeliness of this video. Thank you, so much! Great video! :)

There are quite a few helpful painters that generously share their working style with us. Not all are skillful in actually teaching, however. I truly appreciate your interest in helping those of us who have discovered the magical mind of watercolor and hope to produce frameworthy outcomes. I love your attitude that invites us to support your desire to bring this learning opportunity to everyone, including those who cannot afford to be sponsors. So, I hope some of your viewers are here to learn a little bit about how to “teach” others. Thank you, once again.

Just learning about watercolor techniques in fits and starts! Finding these series on KZbin is incredible! You explain and demonstrate your quite well. Have you ever made a video about how to repair a mistake? I don’t think you make many, but if you could show me how to repair a painting where I got a little heavy handed with the charcoal. Seems quite dark to me and I’m not sure it’s repairable….

The Stoned Videogame Nerd i haven't tried so i dont know what to tell you. I still havent used the DS paints yet but i can tell you the Sennelier paints are great... i had been using Winsor & Newton Cotman previously and the Sennelier rewet so much easier and feel like warm butter when i touch it with my wet brush. There is so much more pigment in the artist grade paint. I have heard that some artists use a touch of honey or a touch of glycerin but i havent felt the need to. Although i do like using a small spray bottle to lightly mist... i find i dont even need to do that with the artist grade paints.
@bretking1978

The Stoned Videogame Nerd thanks for that info... next time i need or WANT(usually) more paints i may grab some of the White Knight paints. As i said i still havent even opened my brand new tubes of DS paints so it may be a while but i will keep the WK paints in mind because anything to help the wallet is a major plus in my mind. I dont have much experience with watercolors as i only began painting about a year ago so i watchecd many reviews and concluded the DS were widely liked and i thought the price i paid was fair. A bit intimidated though as ive never experimented with tube paints. Nevertheless i like knowing i have a brand new set of paints inside my desk just waiting to used :)

I love a challenge, & learning watercolor after oil & acrylic is definitely a good challenge. I am completely obsessed with gouache currently! I absolutely love it & strongly recommend Holbein gouache. {Obviously, my preferred gouache as you can see due to my crazy enthusiasm.) If you've not played around with it yet, please do. The colors are vibrant. The matte finish is extremely nice, not even a bit chalky. The consistency of the gouache is just ideal, in my opinion. So smooth, wets extremely quickly, lovely blending - also love their watercolor. I use the Holbein Acryla Gouache as well. I find it quite interesting, of course will not lift once dry, does make for curious little "underpainting" sort of experiments; it all depends on the effect(s) you're going for! The palette range of Holbein's media is a definite plus as far as my subject matter goes. 😊 I almost exclusively utilize Holbein, & Daniel Smith, (a long with a set of Sennelier,) for my watercolor paints. I am very much looking forward to trying the MG and Schminke watercolors! - Thank you for sharing your talent & your videos. You are of great assistance during my water media journeys. I mean that! Not only are your works inspiring & lovely to witness coming to life, but I'd also had such a slim chance of being been led to the Silver Brush Black Velvets without the aid of you & Reese! You, sir, are extremely appreciated! Best, - B.
