Camileon = this artist's name weezer = is a band that has become known as a reference joke, because one of their album cover has a picture of 4 men standing next to each other. sona = slang for 'persona'. camileon weezer sona painting = a painting where camileon painted themself as the funny picture of weezer album (she did not actually do this, but there is enough similarity for me to think it is funny, and to leave a comment) I don't know if that makes a lot of sense, but I tried my best!

not to interpolate meaning onto your self-described meaningless work but I really liked this even just from the concept art because it feels like as you’re smiling it gets stranger and more simplified because you’re less comfortable with the smile. and you talking about insecurity while painting it seemed like on some level you kind of felt that way too. I think this painting is awesome and I wish I could render stuff the way you can. keep it up gang. I hope you get 15 trillion subscribers.

though it's fine to have no meaning, what you said about how you imagined that's how you're smiling in your mind in the last one is kind of a meaning in itself--like the act of smiling creating that image in your mind. and also the fact that you dont usually paint yourself smiling being another potential reason. ik those werent the actual intent for a viewer to get but i feel like some could be derived. AWESOME WORK THOUGH as a portrait painter graduate myself i understand the drive towards wanting to make self-portraits and it's so nice to see

You said that this work doesn't have any meaning but i can't help but thinking that there is one. One that depicts how insecurity and vulnerability in the public eye can alter your perception of yourself. Im sorry to be that annoying person cuz obviously it can still simply be a fun painting for your enjoyment, but the sentiment kinda hit me when you started talking about how you don't feel the best about your smile. Something that i'll always believe is when you can't convey what's on your mind or don't want to do it directly, your art naturally does it for you, and i think that's one of the beauties of it Btw your smile is beautiful, youre an amazing human and artist, and i wish you the best

I thought the same thing!!! I also thought it was a pretty good representation of how, even though she came a long way from being insecure of painting herself to having self portraits be her "thing", she still has insecurities shes trying to overcome, like her smile (also yeah her smile is beautiful it was actually a bit jarring hearing her talk about how she feels insecure about it because I always thought it was particularly warm and pretty)

A possible meaning could be how a person's true colors shine through in relaxed scenarios! When the light, which could be interpreted as stress or pressure, is shining in the subjects face and eyes, she's neutral looking, or even cold and sad. As the light, or the "stress" fades, she loosens up, her face and especially her eyes contorting into an amplified version of herself, demonstrating what her real personality is like :)

thanks for posting this, it really brought me back to the perspective of being an artist viewing your own work. i think living life and losing interest in making art along the way made me forget what it's like to view your own art like this. i saw this specific piece of yours go viral on instagram/twitter, along w TONS of your amazing artwork. remarkable pieces like this are dazzling, sure, but there's something VERY important and entirely missed sometimes, and that's your perception of your own work for you to look at this painting and say you didn't like how it was turning out, how you loved and hated working on certain parts of it, even how you were self conscious about being watched, all of it was so natural and normal to the human experience of creating art. people who don't create art or people who have lost their love in it probably forget that we all are too hard on ourselves. hell, i had no idea you were such a goofy, upbeat person until i watched your vids! artwork only speaks a tiny part of who you are as an artist/person, but i think i forgot about that. regardless, hearing you talk about yourself and your art in such a human way reminded me that even the greatest artists feel this way. thanks again :]
