I recently painted this furniture; a custom Star Wars AT-AT bookshelf that someone else made. I used my sprayer to apply Valspar paint and applied glazing with Minwax True Black wood stain.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm not a fan of using music in my videos anymore but I felt like this was more of a video to let everyone see the progress rather than me try to teach people how to paint a Star Wars book shelf. Not too many people doing that. :)

THIS looks freaking AMAZING!!!! You did such a good job on this. I enjoyed watching with the music💕 Are you ambidextrous? I've noticed in past videos that you are left handed but see you using both hands in this video 🙂
@ThatShabbyGuy4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, I am a little ambidextrous. Being left handed, I always hated using left handed scissors in school because they all sucked so I learned to adapt to a few things. When it came to learning to paint furniture, well, sometimes one hand gets tired, sometimes things are done better with my other hand because of the angle so I've adapted in the same way. Thanks for watching!

This looks amazing!!! I’m just wondering if there was any particular reason why you didn’t use a grey primer? (Also the music is giving me mad labyrinth/never ending story vibes and I love it!!!)
@ThatShabbyGuy4 жыл бұрын
Gray primer would definitely be fine. I think I just already had the white sitting around. I tend to get 3-4 at a time when I go for supply runs. Sometimes they don't have gray since most people seem to get that for most general projects for priming. Thanks for watching. Appreciate the feedback!

Absolutely love this! This video popped up in my feed...and as I'm watching, my husband leans over with eyes bigger than quarters. Anyway, I searched thru the comments, and found the comment about the pattern, but it wouldn't open.....so I'm asking where can I find a blueprint for this?
@ThatShabbyGuy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks to the both of you. My client had this custom made by someone else then brought to me for finishing. I have no idea if it did it himself or if he used plans online. Hopefully you can understand my reasoning behind not trying to promote plans to create it. Disney is a lil nuts. Lol

@That Shabby Guy what color of Valspar gray do you use (or do you change it up)? Looks good brother keep it up. I've been following up on your videos when I am not working on my projects.
@ThatShabbyGuy4 жыл бұрын
I dont use any specific color. I find most of my grays on the mistint shelf at the hardware store. Gray is so popular there are usually some available. Get $35 paint for $9. So I'm not picky. If its too dark, I can add white to get it where I want it.
@lapbars53964 жыл бұрын
@@ThatShabbyGuy Thanks for the reply! I will be getting some gray for sure from lowes mistint. I have a table that has some design work around the edge. I am going to attempt your gray glaze technique to the sides and legs. Possibly do a carbon gray stain on top. I'll share photos when finished (I will have to brush paint mine at least until I get a good sprayer). Take care!

I’m sorry if I missed hearing it in the video, but did you just start with a regular spray paint as a base? It’s gorgeous by the way! I’m not a Star Wars fan, but I am a fan of anything you paint.
@ThatShabbyGuy4 жыл бұрын
I used Rustoleum flat spray paint as a primer. Since it was raw wood I needed to seal in tannin bleeds and also prevent the wood from raising up when water based paint is applied.
@conniesisco64684 жыл бұрын
Gotcha!! I did my first project using stain as a glaze a few days ago on a table top. I painted the top white then used Weathered Oak as the glaze. It turned out beautifully. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and inspiring me.
@wandersworkshop49574 жыл бұрын
How many hours did that project take?
@ThatShabbyGuy4 жыл бұрын
I recorded pretty much the whole thing and had 4 hours and 30 minutes of footage. I'd say maybe 5 or 6 hours of labor total but I did it throughout the course of several days waiting for stuff to fully dry because it had been cold.

Where can I get the pattern to make this shelf??
@ThatShabbyGuy4 жыл бұрын
I have no idea. I don't think it was made off of a pattern as far as I know. I think the wood worker just looked at what they wanted and built it.
