I love to come back to your older videos. Never tier of them . I like to slow them down. You are still my favorite artist in modern times

Fascinating to watch you paint. You make it look so easy but know so much skill and training is behind every brush stroke!

I really like the idea of having the finished painting next to the one being done and working towards the finished, Bravo :)

I like your showing the finished painting rather than a photograph along side the demo. It's helpful to see how each stroke leads towards the finished result. Thank you for sharing your skills by doing this demo to create this beautiful painting.

This is great! Do you exaggerate the color in bouncing lights on purpose ? Like the orange on her face, was like that on the reference photo or is it an exaggeration you are using as a creative resource?
@LenaRivo4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I exaggerated that reflected light a bit because the photo was almost colorless... Usually I try not to exaggerate color too much.

I love your paintings! I think if I just dropped paint for her face like that, she wouldn't have come out so pretty....Do you have any advice on getting that down? (I'm sure it's lots of practice) .... Do you work with a limited pallet?
@LenaRivo9 жыл бұрын
+Jeanne DeCoste Hi Jeanne! Thank you for your compliments :) Well, I think to paint loosely you have to be confident in drawing. I practice line drawing that forces me to observe my subjects very carefully. In the initial stages of painting I don't care about face features. I worry more about the accurateness of the big shapes (face and head including). Only after the big shapes are in place I start adding some small details like face features. Placing eyes, nose and mouth I try to be very careful, analyzing angles and distances between them. To be able to create the illusion of volume in a face I have studied the planes of the human head. This knowledge helps me now to paint faces putting paint of the certain tone and color without any doubt. I also have to point out that this video was speeded up many times. I never work fast. I always think on every stroke... I hope it helps, but in summary, yes, it takes a lot of study and practice :) Lena P.S. I work with a full palette of colors.

i wish you'd show the reference photo you were painting instead of having the finished painting on the right side of the screen. I presume that's the finished painting and not the painting you were copying. Yes!
@lanacampbell89617 жыл бұрын
Yes, I also like to see a reference photo or "live" subject, but seeing the finished painting is great to understand how the artist arrives at the finish! We need bigger screens to accommodate it all!
