Amazing cutting skills on that G logo! I repainted an old Zowie mice before and apparently lacquer clear from hobby stuff (like Tamiya) isn't strong. Next time I'll use 2K lol

thanks for this video! I have a wireless mouse I got from target a little while ago and was trying to decide on how to paint it. I finally figured out what I wanted to do with it, but wasn't sure what kind of paint to use, so this definitely helped! did you ever find out if a matte clear coat works just as well as a glossy clear coat? thanks again!

matte clear coats work fine. I think you have to get a 2k one by spraymax though. I don't know of any other good matte clears

I think you should still be sanding the mouse before applying any type of paint

For the stenciling process you don’t have to push as hard as him as you’ll most likely be redoing your stencil multiple times and if you mess up it’ll leave scratches. Also the tape’s pretty fragile so you won’t need all that force

Ight so I have a question. Is it normal for the paint to eventually kinda come off a on parts we’re your palm rests the most. The sweet from me hands kinda took some of the paint off after a bit

no if you sand it and use a good clear coat it should last years without that ever happening

Use a 2k clear. Not 2x clear. 2k is a automotive clear.

@@snipeyHAHA over time all of it is pushed off to reveal the plastic underneath, this is on the sides where I grip it, the top where my palm rests and the left click most recently, I sanded the mouse, 2 coats of Rust-Oleum AE0541400UK and a coat of Rust-Oleum AE0040003E8 400ml Crystal Clear Matt, I donno if its because I didn't do enough clear coat maybe, I assume the paint and clear coat brand is okay

If I have a white mouse and I just want to make it glossy, can I just sand it, use a primer, and use just the clear coat? I want the glossy texture like a zowie special edition mouse (white ones) if you ever had one of those.

Correct you can just sand it and paint it clear. Never felt a zowie. The texture of clear coat is very smooth. Pretty much no texture

You have to get a matte clear coat. I would maybe get the max2k matte clear.

It's definitely way more grippy than the mouse is not painted. I haven't tried matte clear coat though yet...

Is there a matte clear coat I can buy instead? Don't like glossy. Like would rustoleum white paint+primer and spraymax 2k matte give me a long lasting paint job?

yes get the spraymax 2k matte. Thats the only matte I know of in a rattle can that will be good. That stuff should last many years and look good

@@snipeyHAHA i talked with nacho and some other guys they say that rustoleum is too thick to use and they recommended montana products. What do u think?

@@Foxcez it has seemed to work fine when i use it with no issues so far. The montana paint is probably nicer though. Also that rustoleum 2x doesnt even need a primer so it will end up with less layers which will be thinner in the end i think

why do you sand down the logo too? and what was the mistake you made in the video and why does it matter

I sand the logo so that the clear coat paint sticks to it. The mistake I think I forgot to remove the tape the first time i put the clear on lol. You need to sand down the color before the clear slightly on the edges where the tape was also or there will be a nasty texture there

Just add grip tape if you want more grip. Trim 'em down so it doesn't cover too much of your paintjob

Glossy mice are actually better for grip, the matte coating on the GPW isn't very good for grip at all.

@@ChloeSantos14 primer is just what you spray first because not all paint will stick to plastic very well. Or some paint might be a bit transparent and won't look right sprayed over black so you would want a lighter grey primer first. Most spray paint should work fine though without primer as long as you sand it good first. Or just use that 2X type of paint I use it works really good.
