Painting a Mandala with Acrylic Paints

In this video we will paint a black and white mandala (hand drawn by me and available to you in PDF) with acrylic paint, (although you can use any paint, colored pencils, markers, your choice)

Hey there! I'm new to gelli plate printing and the biggest challenge for me is getting the right consistency of the paint so the brayer doesn't slip all over the place, or the paint is too thick in one colour and too thin in over areas. Frankly, I'm making a hot mess without any pure colours. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated !

Suzi, yes! Sounds like first you can limit the amount of paint you are using (less paint), then brayer evenly, if your brayer is slipping, "brayer off" some of the paint on the plate so there is a bit less. Start with less colors if things are mixing in ways you don't enjoy. Your paint might be a factor, some of the fluid acrylics have a lot of binder and less pigment, specifically I find some of the Dylusions pigments are this way and create a slippery plate without much color. High humidity can cause this as well, be aware of your humidity and try printing on days with less, if that is an option. Hope those tips will help!
