Tip from a pro-spray one light mist coat. let it sit for 20-30 mins then spray a full coat. The mist coat will help the full coat "hang" better and not run.Keep it up!!

I am researching all this to paint a metal shed (new not rusty) and this is the most detailed and helpful information. I felt overloaded before (never used oil based paint) but now I feel like I can tackle this. Thank you for showing us the details of the paint and the sprayer. That’s extremely helpful and I’m grateful to all KZbinrs who do this to help people like me!!!!

@@cindyboxer1184 How is yours holding up? Did you use a primer? I'm having a new metal shop building installed but I'm unhappy with the limited colors they offer. I was thinking of ordering it in white and am researching how to paint it the color I want. This video was so helpful but I'm also curious how it has held up on your new building. Thanks!

I’d mask it off, paint a 36” bottom strip wainscot in gloss black & the corner trim boards in gloss black. That would make it look super classy.

the side you were spraying in long sweeping motions but the front you were making short quick strokes. I bet you were putting on quite a bit more paint with the over lap motion on the front with the quick strokes that were not as wide.Thats where the extra paint went, maybe? Looks good in the end though.

Does your spray gun allow the tip/air nozzle to rotate 90 degrees? That would allow you to spray long vertical strokes and use the same amount of paint as each other side. Those short strokes chewed up a lot more paint.
