I thought about not creating a video for this mural, but I decided it was important to show what painting in a more commercial setting looks like. Thanks for watching!

I love it! The colors are great. I recently have been considering trying my hand at murals. It seems like working on paper and canvas leaves me more frustrated than anything else, and the only times i can remember feeling free and actually HAPPY with something I've created was when i painted on a larger scale, like shop windows, friend's bedroom walls, i even painted a freezer! This video makes me happy.. and ambitious. I'd love to see more!

Great Mural!!! .. May I ask what type paint you used? Im doing a sugar skull mural for a re-branding restaurant and have used both interior paint & acrylic in my previous murals. Ive noticed that I usually have do two coats so now I need something that will cover at first coat.
@CallumWarrenArt5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! For this one I used exterior paint as it was in an area with large doors that would be open all day. Unfortunately I almost always have to do two or more coats, especially for brighter colours over dark backgrounds. It's due to the transparency of the paint, rather annoying and time consuming but not too much you can do. Something that helps is if you paint a white base layer and build on top of that. All the best!

If you use a mini roller for the fills it helps save time. Easier to lay on thick coats without leaving stroke marks

Hey Callum! Love your vids. So helpful to me. Starting a mural next week inside a cafe and it's my first one ... eeek! I have some questions. Do I need to do a base coat if the wall is already white/cream and smooth? It will be monochrome. What black paint do you recommend?
@CallumWarrenArt5 жыл бұрын
Hey Rene! Thanks for the comment, im glad to hopefully help. Congrats! Umm so if the wall is already the background colour of your art I wouldn't bother with a base coat. For example if this mural already had a black wall I would have just built upon that. Honestly just go to your local hardware and buy the most affordable interior paint thats what I do. Some of the brighter and intense colours like orange, yellow, pinks etc are more expensive but black and white it won't really matte. Good luck and have fun!!!

Looks great, I am wondering, would you/do you ever use Posca Paint textas for the black outlines?

Hey! Sometimes I do but they run out so quick and are expensive so most of the time I just use black paint and a small brush. Also Posca pens are only good on smooth walls.

Love the video, how did you put such a good circle up on the wall? Did you just eyeball it?
@CallumWarrenArt5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I wish I could eyeball a circle that well, but unfortunately not. I did the old string trick where you find your centre circle point. Stick one side of a piece of string to that point. Attach a pencil to the other side of the string and then adjust the piece of string to the size that you would like your circle and then draw away. If you google circle string technique you will find more info, it's an old draftsman method.
