I'm late to the party, as always ! but had to comment, as I have watched quite a few of these videos today, but yours is by far the most simple, achievable method and explanation, of how you did it. thank you for helping me believe I can actually do this, to my old floorboards.

Thanks Rob! This is a fabulous little video. I really appreciated your attention to detail but also you don't go over the top with preparation so if feels as though I will be able to do the job. Awesome!

I normally would not paint my hardwoods but cats kinda destroyed the floors in the dinning room so paint is really the only thing to do. White is what I want to do and I love the way this white floor has turned out.

looks beautiful thank you for the video. How would you do that with raw wood in the kitchen to make the kitchen waterproof? I basically took white birch, plywood and ripped planks face nailed it down and I’m thinking about painting, but I do have slight gaps in between the boards, so would need to waterproof everything for the kitchen and any suggestion? Thank you? By the way, I do like the look of the raw bitch Wood, but I’m having a hard time finding a wood filler to match it.

@jackwardley362611 ай бұрын
personally if the money is there I would use aluminium wood primer being a hardwood and all those knots then 2 coats of oil floor paint well 3 if the finish is white with the grey primer

Should I use a primer first? And what should the paint be in terms of gloss? They always ask at the hardware store? High gloss, semi, flat?

Hello Rob, I have been watching and enjoying your videos. I wonder if you could please kindly recommend the best varnish to use on a softwood floor. I was going to go for a Ronseal one but it did not get good reviews to say the least. If you can offer any advice I would be very grateful. Kind regardsJohn

Excellent video, detail etc, well explained. The sheen the floor has at finish, is this due entirely to paint used or was there another product added? i.e. lacquer

Rob - i have a very dark Edwardian times wooden floor i wish to vanish/paint in grey - blue colour. Its a small bit in front of a fire place all other space is covered in carpet/ I sanded that wooden bit but this and tried small taster pot on some small aria but i can see that dark mahogany old wood comes through this new colour - what am doing wrong? or i will need two coats of paint on ?
@francisfriel81987 жыл бұрын
анни елниф I used a coat of emulsion paint first,because it lifts the grain..Then quick drying Satinwood to finish..a lovely job and easily done with a roller on a pole..

@runkfish6 жыл бұрын
Hi, how would you know if the floor boards are suitable or not? Great video!
@nancyrobinson77646 жыл бұрын
runkfish what’s not suitable is wood rot floors. To determine if they are rotten check by scraping wood with a fairly sharp tool, fr a big Phillips screwdriver to a paint scraper , or anything similar . Scrape unpainted unvarnished wood. When scraping if you gather pieces or little mushy pieces of wood on scraper , your floor is rotten and can’t be painted or stained . It wouldn’t work and your time wasted . I have been told by contractor brother that hopefully 2x4’s or 3x6’s (support beams) under floor are usually strong so you can remove any bulges and lay down any good plywood , proceeding from here lay any floor you want. This is true even if you want the video’s look, by just painting plywood( filling I’m joining cracks with plastic wood etc . This look is great for use onfinished basement floor or any room where you want a nicer class of the rustic floor. A chic or worn clean rug in the centre adds more dimension .

I personally do not like wood floors or stairs...of I wanted that I would live in a tree. This is just a way of making your home more you adding that special touch. If you want wood floors with grains on it so you can get splinters, go ahead... ME on the other hand prefer to be warm and cozy with a rustic feel with a vintage carpeted staircase and hardwood floors painted with a huge placement rug... oh and I want my wood walls painted too! Do YOU and stop trying to get others to follow your lead. If you like your floors wood then you keep them that way. Now BYE!
@lizbits93396 жыл бұрын
DJ Barakas I'm selling my home. I do not have thousands of dollars to spend on sanding when I'm already spending a great deal of money on the home to fix it up. That's a huge reason people do it.
