Here is a quick look at 2 different way to make and highlights bushes in the wet on wet painting method. I prefer the round for highlighting but you may prefer to do "push up" bushes. Either way, I hope you make some really happy bushes and trees after watching this video! Happy painting my friends!

Thank you for taking the time to change the angle of the camera to show the technique better. I seem to get my bushes about 80% of the way I want them. The round definitely getting the look I am trying to create. For sure I tend to dab the canvas too many times as well. I have been working to get the detail paint consistency a little better as well. I will be painting today and will try out my round brush.

i tried following a BR winter scene. After laying down 1) liquid white everywhere 2) sky and water 3)background trees 4) evergreen background 5) evergreen highlights I had 5 layers of paint and a mess where these layers overlap. I never understood why Bob would paint so many layers just to cover them up. Ive only painted 11 paintings in my life so, yea Im still "wet" behind the ears (pun intended) I did the BR class in FL in Jan. I watch channels like yours and others who paint more real and less wet on wet. So I find myself mixing styles.

Thank you for the excellent demo on making bushes using those two brushes. I can paint clouds all day. Mountains - no problem. But bushes have been vexing me for some time now and I think using the round brush, instead of the 1 inch brush, is going to really help me figure these things out. My bushes have always looked like yellowish Dolly Madison Snowballs - my technique is not good, I'm (apparently) using the wrong brush, and I ALWAYS end up picking up the black paint and turning my bright bushes into sad, disappointing looking blobs. I haven't viewed your other videos, but another thing I am in eternal combat with is layering the terrain so that I get beautiful, undulating hills and river banks that are believable and attractive. Can you make a tutorial that breaks down how to paint crisp, fresh looking hills that don't look like Texas in August (like mine do)?

@@paintwithbramwell for me its less working, the 1 inch brush looks more like the Bill Alexander's, and the foliage brushes is not roundy anymore. For me the 1 inch brush is out of use, the orginal had a good shape at the upper hair, now its flat, i can't paint grass with it anymore. I called Bob Ross company yesturday and they confirmed that the new brushes are made in Germany. I think they did a bad choice producing the new brushes in Germany, i saw a lot people complaining about the new line at Amazon.
