When I was in the military our jet aircraft had checkerboard rudders, they painted the checkerboard pattern exactly how you described doing for your model aircraft.

Great lesson. I am probably reading too much into it but is there a guideline for determining a start point? In the video you mention “starting point” as the middle for the cart and at the top for the cowl. Seems logical.
@StyreneModelersHaven
@StyreneModelersHaven Жыл бұрын
Usually the middle of the part is the best place to start but you could always use a pencil to draw out the pattern on the part first to see how it will look if you are not sure.

As a returning modeler, I have an innate appreciation for bettering my builds. Over the last five years, I've learned quite a bit , always experimenting, always trying to improve not only the techniques, but the experience of building. This has paid off handsomely in my enjoyment of the hobby. It is with pleasure that I am able to learn how others accomplish the things I still struggle with. I therefore, very much appreciate "how To" videos about modeling, much more so that "reviews" or "complete builds". This is not to say that I do not appreciate the work of other builders, for I do. There are some extremely talented people in this hobby and I love being able to help them express there abilities, even in only in a small way by viewing their videos. But the "How To" videos are what KZbin started with and I find it an amazing tool for those purposes. So , thank you very much for illustrating this particular technique.

I too like the reviews and build videos but I do notice that there is not as many how to videos on how these amazing modelers achieve those results. I am trying to fill that void in some small way by trying to do more how to videos as I progress through my own builds. Glad you picked up on that!

Decaling is way, way easier. Decals also just look better. No reason to be afraid of them. Learn how to use the softening and setting solutions to get the decal to conform to a curve.

I am not sure where i got it, it was so long ago. it is a metal ruler with standard and metric markings. I find a metal ruler much better as my blade wont cut into the metal when using it as a guide.
