As always, you level up with each video, Hardy. I especially love how you match the elements position and shapes with the golden spiral, how you create those ground leaves tiers and how you turn the monocromatic building of values onto an alive painting. Thanks for sharing this video!

I like how the reflected light from the field dominates the fog inside the dense forest.... Composition is as always top notch , I always lag creating some point of visual interest in my environments as I am practicing .... The point of visual interest in here is those two bright orange sparks in the broken wires of abandoned car .... it immediately catches attention

How do you decide on the size of the canvas for these pieces? Are there some set guides to help a beginner throught it?
@fowlerillus18 күн бұрын
I usually paint environments at 4K which is 3840x2160 pixels. 16x9 at 300dpi is a good rule of thumb too.

It is! My mom had one when I was in high school. I loved that car :)
@mayudrake003 жыл бұрын
@@fowlerillus Awwwh :D I rewatched your lineart course recently right before the academy started, where you made this cool killer machine out of that car and I attached this landscape painting immediately as a sequel to this as soon as I recognised the shape. Now it might be broken down, all guns and spikes removed since it can not drive anymore, but it still has a purpose as an energy engine for the house. Beetles for the rescue!

Thanks! I'm glad that you would be interested. I don't have any immediate plans for a full course followup BUT I am going to be releasing individual project kits over the next year (I just finished a cyberpunk cityscape that will be one of the first kits) so there will definitely be new environment lessons and new techniques coming out soon.

I think it can be better.. Why is the car as a main subject on the side. If its a power source, why is the house not powered. If its lived in, what other elements are around that indicate that. What is the story.. how did the road car end up in a overgrown forest. Why is it only 1 car? What did he do with the rest of the car? Or did he just let it rust away. Just saying this for all the kids watching. This is what your art director will tell you. Not bad for a 1st thumbnail/sketch. The concept still needs work. Thats what the job is. Technic is solid.

Right on - great points here and there are certainly some unanswered story questions. Thanks for the perspectives. Cheers

I'm sorry to hear that - I know the feeling - these things can feel really daunting at first. I would recommend starting with some fundamentals of environment design. Relatively simple concepts like atmospheric perspective and composition can instantly lead to progress.
