Hi Christina. This painting is amazing. I wanna buy it, in case it’s for sale. Thank you anyway, I’ve enjoyed an opportunity to get an insight into an artist’s process. Obviously, you are very talented, and a fact that you are also an educator and a promoter of art makes you even more precious. Thank you again, it was fun. 😊

Really love hearing you explain your process as you work. But I wish we could have seen the reference photo you were working from.
@christinakentart3 ай бұрын
Thanks Doug! I'm glad you enjoyed the explanation of the painting process.. I don't always like to show the reference because I find it impacts how people perceive the final painting. However, I understand it is helpful to see the reference photo for instructional purposes, and will be sure to include the reference in a video coming up.

@@christinakentartyes I get where you’re coming from on that, especially since you might be reflecting nuances of colour which don’t come across on our screens. Perhaps if there’s just a link to the reference in the description we can choose to see or not see it😅

Is the painting all wet-in-wet or are you letting the layers or the underpainting dry completely between layers? I'm curious on how the paint is mixing as you're applying it (and if that impacts which colors you decide to use.)
@christinakentart3 ай бұрын
This is wet-on-wet. I start with the darker, more transparent colors, and I layer the lighter, opaque colors on top. This way, the colors don't mix too much (except for where I choose to blend them).

Do you use random reference photos or your own taken on your phone?
@christinakentart3 ай бұрын
These days I either work from life or from references I take on my phone. However, in the past I would work from references from sites that offer royalty-free photos, like Unsplash.
