Another tutorial for you absolute beauties today! This time I've been painting in a 'GRIM DARK STYLE'.
In this video I combine a number of techniques to create this Morvenn Vahl miniature

I need to give this one a go. I paint some models dark but they still have the box art feel to them. I need to learn how too desaturate and give it a more realistic lived in feel. Great video

I guess I always think of Blanche when I think "grimdark". I know there's now a painting style expressly to imitate his art, but the muted, more realistic colors really seem to be the core of what grimdark is -- at least in my mind.

Looks fantastic, I've been looking for a way to paint Vahl and this will do it. Some questions: 1) I'm assuming the mix for the airbrushing stage are a simple 1:1 ratio? 2) I don't have Grim black. Would Black Templar be a good equivalent? I'm not familiar with the Speedpaint line.

1. Yeah 50/50 mix. 2. So I'd highly recommend picking up a few speed paints to try. My go to are grim black, hardened leather and blood red. Start with those 3 and see how you get on. Black templar will be fine but highly recommend speed paints.
