When caulking do you caulk the cabinet doors? I filled the grain on my doors and filled in the edges where the trim meets the door (on the door) if that makes sense. It has now cracked. I’ve heard if you use a flexible caulk on the doors the doors can still shrink or expand without the caulk cracking is this true?

What I appreciate most about all 30 minutes of this video is that you’re showing the REALITY of what these projects look like. As a professional scenic artist, when I work “up close & personal” at home jobs, the details you’re commenting on are the “insider tips” that I think most introductory (and even professional) videos ignore. Tips about caulking, cleanup, detail sanding, masking, etc. are the types of craftsmanship things that you ONLY learn after a project is finished. Even in the middle of projects I find myself saying “there HAS to be a way to avoid this in the future,” but unfortunately many times this is after the point-of-no-return, “next time we’ll know better” situation. I loved the emphasis on the fact that the REAL work is the prep, attention to detail, and cleanup that all the “amateurs” don’t consider with our type of work. Cheers for a great informative video.

As a Construction Inspector and project Manager for many decades I watched and enjoyed every minute of this video. Real "craftsmen" are a rare find these days. Attention to detail, good prep work, keeping the worksite safe and clean, and quality products are all the necessary components to a good job that lasts for years. Nice work! Even if your son never paints another cabinet he has learned invaluable lessons the will apply to any career he chooses. Good job for teaching him these valuable life lessons!

Making a 2nd comment here - I have watched so many of your videos at this point over the last 6 months getting ready to tackle our cabinets. We finally did this week and I just have to say, thank you. Your advice has been priceless and we followed it to a 'T'. Paint selection, primer, home sprayer type, paint to water ratios, effort put into properly taping/prep, how fast to spray, all of it. I was terrified we were going to ruin our cabinets and I couldn't be more pleased with how they turned out. Thank you for putting this channel out and taking the time to film it, it made a big difference for us.

You should try an electric spray from home depot or something similar. I used one to paint a wood fence as well as the eaves and fascia of the house. Really holds up well and is convenient, especially since brushing or rolling can be tedious. I typically use water based and dilute a bit until a even flow and texture is being applied.

Very nice finish, really a good job. I would hire you to do my work for sure! You do the extra things that really makes a difference and the final product speaks for itself. Keep up the good work. As you don't need to be told this, most people doing anything anymore don't really give a damn as long as they get their money in the end. Hope this pumps you up a little! I'm usually not the guy who says anything about how anybody does their line of work because honestly, they don't deserve a compliment, you obviously know what I'm talking about. Those of you who don't know, well, you don't know! Thanks for sharing your skills, much appreciated.

Watched all 34 minutes. There are very few videos that show how much effort goes into this level of full size kitchen update. I love how you clearly defined how important and time consuming the prep work is, and the quality of work shows through at the end. Now when homeowners say, it's just paint, there's a way to convert that into money... (5 days x two people x hourly rate) + materials and all of a sudden it makes sense. And thanks to your helpers. Very well done.

Frog tape will take paint off the wall. I built the rack and it was wonderful. I would suggest slightly thicker dowels as the 1/2" dowel does sag under the weight of the doors. Plus the 4" distance between dowels is tight. You have to really be careful when sliding the doors in.

I was all in once you started taping up the areas. Watched the whole video. I’m a mom of 4 just got a house and I’m diy my kitchen cabinets. Thanks for this

Absolutely watched all 36 minutes. Great job and informative for one who usually just replaces cabinets this was exactly what I needed. Thanks.

I watched the whole 33:57 minutes 😅 this video is the best I've seen in months. The prepping, the advice on the why's, the do's and the don't's was everything I had been wondering about and got all the answers in your one video! Awesome thanks 👌

Saving your channel! We would like to do our cabinets in a few years and we’re also from MN!

You wondered if anyone watched the video until the end. Well, over the last few days I’ve watched the entire video 3 times. I’m going to paint the cabinets in my two bathrooms and then my kitchen cabinets. I’m starting with my bathroom cabinets first to “learn”. After watching your video on the Wagner Flexio 5000, I purchased one and will use it for my cabinets. I’m also going to use Zinsser smart prime and BM Advance satin. Your videos are great and I’m subcribed. Keep up the good work, I appreciate it! Thanks Glen
