Great job, but for this amount of preparation and finish. I’ll buy some new cabinets.

I hear ya! But new cabinets are EXPENSIVE! Compared, this isn't so bad and if you DIY it, you can do it for a few hundred bucks!
@SUN_boombapКүн бұрын
I love advance but had to stop using it because it takes so long for the paint to cure between coats. Scuff-X or Dunn Edwards DecoGlo for cabinets if your not going with lacquer
@diypainting12 сағат бұрын
Very true, Advance cures way too slow for production / professional work. But for homeowners/DIYers, I think it's perfect. They are usually not in a hurry and the slow dry time allows for some amazing leveling.

I plan on painting my cabinets in the near future, and the uppers crown has gaps where it meets the ceiling bigger than I could possibly fill with caulk (1/4" in places)... Is this a problem I should try to fix by removing and reattaching the crown tighter to the ceiling, or is this something that is probably fine? Beautiful work, and thanks for the video.

Question: I want to paint white cabinets in a flip/new kitchen. They're brand new so no grease or anything like that. Do I need a degreaser/cleaner, or just wipe them down? Also, do I need to use a primer first?

Do you use a polyurethane top coat at all to protect the paint at all? If not, how well do the cabinets hold up for scratches or wear and tear?
@markw96992 күн бұрын
just watched and we are about to add a new walk in pantry to the kitchen. debating on building our own cabinets and painting has always been a stumbling block…but your techniques clarify things very well. what spray gun are you using in this video because it is not in the links. I have compressors with air purifiers etc so that is not a leap for me, but I would like to get a handle on the spray gun. thanks for your time and explanations.

I always use a roller to paint, but I am now considering using a spray gun for painting my garage inside (white), and outside house stucco, after I patch some spots, and also picking a paint color for a cinderblock perimeter wall. Google says mix half a cup of water (4 oz) to every gallon (128 oz) of paint. That is 3.18%. (Not 10%, or even 20%). If I buy a gallon of paint, there’s no room in the can to add any water, so I am thinking I’d need to have any empty can, pour half of the gallon of paint in there, then add the water (2 oz per half gal) mix it, then pour that into the spray gun reservoir. But you are saying mix 20% water in the paint. So, that means 25.6 oz of water per gallon (128 oz) of paint, NOT half a cup (4 0z) of water. So, is this correct-mix 25.6 oz for every gallon?

I find it amazing a tent could be so useful... But I don't own one, and I really wonder if I should use an old camping tent... Hmmm I'll really look into this. Thanks! Best wishes to you in the fall of 2024

Thanks, great presentation and explanations. Was hoping I could get away with using paint with primer, but appears I'ma have to do the labor of prime then top coat. Also thanks for mix ratios on wood grain filler and paint thinning

Great video. I'm a plasterer by trade. I had a client wanted the cabinets in her recently purchased co-op painted white. After coming across your video that had the very same cabinets I had to watch the entire video. The boys and i watched the whole thing. It was very helpful. Nothing like bonding with your kids on a job.

Sorry. I see you covered primer. I have two birch plywood shelves that are in the garage on the wall below the lathe. I’m thinking about BM Advanced Danube Blue. A darker color to hide dirt better. What should I go with in terms of texture? Gloss? Semi gloss? I’m thinking of priming first, then some body filler on the edges followed be another coat of primer. Light sand and topcoat. Is that ok? Thanks, Paul
