Such fantastic videos. I’ve seen hundreds, if not thousands online and yours are top tier. They truly encapsulate what an average person, with a little bit of know how and the willingness to work can accomplish! You make difficult tasks appear do-able, and to many, that’s half the battle! Keep it up. This channel will explode in due time.

With so many comments and being a slow reader, I'm not sure if someone has mentioned it yet but with taping/masking before painting, always continue masking in the same direction. Then, when it comes time to unmask you should be able to peel up in the opposite direction and get a good long peel. Another thing that will help with your edging near 2 different painted surfaces is a tape I used to use called Fine Line Tape. Otherwise, great videos and keep it up. I just found your channel a week ago with your trailer build and now I'm hooked!

Nice video. The one thing I would recommend is when bringing anything previously rusted down to bare metal, always treat the metal with some kind of rust converter so that it permanently stops the rust from forming. I recommend OSPHO but there are several manufacturers that do equally well.

Since I couldn't fit my truck in my garage, I painted it outside with Bullyliner. The liner is water-based and made from recycled tires. I sanded the entire truck and bondo'd after removing rust spots. With the rough finish, I didn't have to worry about dirt messing up the coat. It looks awesome. I have a 93 crew cab GMC Sierra dually 6.5. Thanks for your video.

Great Channel, Just discovered it now. If you want less splash when pouring from cans like your your epoxy primer catylyst or the xylene type can, when they are 1/2 can to full, try pouring with the spout on the high side of the pour instead of the low side. It is counter intuitive, but works.

Something you might try on your compressor. 15 ft. Of metal line coming out of the compressor.sloping away from the compressor. Feed lines come off the top of main line so you don’t dump h2o through tools. At the end of your main line have a drain valve to empty condensed h2o.
@glassblastcollision
@glassblastcollision 2 жыл бұрын
If your starting with a full can of primer it's hard to pour .So stick your paint stick into the can and when you pull it out as you go back in with the paint stick, scrape the stick off on the egde of your mixing container as you dip back in for the next dip. Kind of a verticle circular pattern scraping off your stick after each dip. Kind of like a rudimentry pump but it works great with a full can of material.

When people use a compressor, you should always have a water sperator in the line out... Not just because you don't want moisture, but to protect you're machines... And there should be a way to feed machine oil also... I guess not when you use a sand blaster, but every time else...

I think what really sucks about a paint job is the time and effort it takes to remove stuff, mask it and prep it for paint. I'd thoroughly enjoy using a sand blaster to remove paint and obviously enjoy the painting process from primer to clear coat, but the work leading up to that is a lot

If you want to save your blasting media it's a great idea to blast your parts on a large tarp and sweep up the media afterwards
@conanruisi
@conanruisi 2 жыл бұрын
Waldo I don’t know a lot about sandblasting media. I know the ceramic shit is expensive but I highly recommend, it’s the least toxic to your skin and even if you do blast your hands with it you shouldn’t get more than just a little red mark from momentary contact. I’ve seen blood drawn one time with sandblasting, and that was because he was holding the gun wide open blasting at his glove not paying attention. Would love to see a before and after of your hands using coal slag for blasting to see how dirty you get. All my blasting was done with zirconia and a cabinet on aluminum but it took my hands a couple days to start getting dark dark. Then a couple showers later and it’s back to normal.

"Orange peel texture" clearcoat surface, or as i would say "too dry" is way worse than drips. This texture means that there is not enough clearcoat for it to form a flat surface, and after sanding it down it will be even thinner providing less protection and less room to deal with defects without burning through the paint. Meanwhile drips can be sanded out and we will be sure that our layer is thick enough to protect base color from UV and metal from rusting (but in your case epoxy resin also performs protective function so rust is not a problem).

Very off topic, but I'd like to know your opinion on air oil separators or catch cans for direct injection engines, either gas or diesel, for cars and trucks based in cold climates. Thanks!

I'm a body man. First you don't put seam sealer on bare metal and prim over it. I goes etch prim, prim, seam sealer then paint. Bondo goes on top of metal for best results. Metal finish can go on paint. Epoxy primer is good but it can crack over time.
