HA - that rotisserie is a must have - not only easier on the painter, but probably also a better finish in areas where one normally has to spray at unusual angles to get to. I have a new 69 build in the planning and will be also using a rotisserie. One thing I used many years ago when spraying metal flake - I used a couple of marbles in the pot (it was a old suction feed gun) to occasionally agitate the flake with. my rolling the marbles around - I think it worked - HA. And no matter how well I thought I cleaned the gun after shooting the metal flake - a single red flake would shoot out onto another job - HA. Thanks for the tips. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA.

Upside down gun makes a lot of sense. It looks good wet and shining. Not sure I'm sold on the semi gloss look but we all have our own tastes. Hopefully you'll post some footage of the finished car when it's back together.

Just stumbled upon your videos, excellent content, i plan on trying vp2050 for the first time after using dp40 in the past. How far down below the bend of the window channel did you run the masking line for the black for the flush mount glass? I am assumming you have it just below the bottom edge of the glass aprox 1/4 inch?

I wanna know what sandpaper you use to wetsand the clearcoat and how you get it to stick to your blocks, like 800 grit to 1200 to 1500 to 2000 grit etc.
@looper451 Жыл бұрын
Sandpaper needs to start at 600 grit for flattening clear coat. Thats why we spray 5 coats of clear. And slowly worked out to 3000 grit and then polished. Theres no real trick to getting sand paper stuck to block, just do what you can to wrap it around and make faux handles

@@looper451 5 coats of clear? What are you trying to do ' that much orange peel? or using that much to block out body work. 5 coats ' you can start out with 400😂.
@looper451 Жыл бұрын
@@keithclark486 What? All restoration shops apply 5 coats of clear to their cars. Its so theres enough body to flatten the clear. Starting at 400 isn’t necessary. You’re just making your job harder
@keithclark486 Жыл бұрын
@@looper451 Not all do. If you get the body work right and get the clear to lay down without any orange peel and trash in it. 3 coats is plenty enough. You don't want to much mill build up.
@looper451 Жыл бұрын
@@keithclark486 Yes you do. You need the mills to flatten the clear and still have enough body for protection. Every single high end restoration shop applies 4 or 5 coats of clear, usually 5. Thats the industry standard. Hot rods need to be dead straight with 0 orange peel, and the only way to do that is to level the clearcoat
