it's beautiful. I try to paint roses with this technique but I can not do it. I use the same paint as you, but it does not hang on the glass. It is much less thick. Can this come from the brush I use?

I love watching you paint ,you make it look so easy I am going to have to invest in some equipment and try for myself, when you have cured in oven do you use mod podge or a liquitex spray please ?

Thanks so much. After the paint is cured there is no need to coat it with anything. It becomes quite hard and is washable. I don’t like to put it it in the dishwasher though as things can rub up against the glass and it might scratch. Hope that helps.

Nice work, but would have been helpful to recommend cleaning the glass with alcohol, to explain that natural brushes get better coverage than synthetic with fewer lines, and to show how you load the brush with both colors for use in the One Stroke technique.

Hi Aleksandra. For these glasses I used a #12 flat brush. Depending on the size of rose I want to paint I also typically use a #10 as well.

May I ask what type of brush you are using? It seems that you have a good amount of paint loaded on the brush. I can not seem to get that amount loaded.

Hi Carla I generally use the One Stroke brushes that are meant for this type of painting but I had this Loew Cornell #12 brush handy when I painted this. It does take a little practice to figure out how to load the brush but I find keeping the brush in just a small area of about an inch or two while loading it will definitely help get the paint into the bristles.

No I don't use a sealer after painting. The Folk art Enamel paint is self sealing. I do put the glass in the oven and bake it according to the instructions on the bottle. This will cure and harden the paint so it can be washed.

amyla ahmad123 hi. Thanks for asking. I use Folk art enamel paints which I either purchase from Michael’s Craft stores or Amazon. They are really great for this type of painting and are meant for painting on glass. I bake the glasses after painting to harden it so you can wash the glasses. 😊

umm sorry, im gonna do a practical test tomorrow, it's glass painting. My teacher didn't told me what kind of painting i should bring. So, my friend said that we could use Acrylic. Is it right?

Rossi Amalia If you are going to be painting on glass I would always use a paint meant for glass. Once the paint is cured it becomes very hard and will not wash off. If you use acrylic paint by itself it will wash off. Some people add a glass medium to the acrylic to make it stay on the glass but it’s not what I would do as I still find that it can come off. I would suggest you talk to your teacher and see what they would like you to bring.

I use Folk Art enamel paint meant for glass. After the surface is painted and dried you put it in an oven to bake and cure so you can use the glass and wash without worrying about the paint washing off.

I put the glass in a cold oven then turn up the temperature. When the oven reaches 325 I set the timer for 30 minutes then turn the oven off and let the glass cool. Once it is cool that is when I take out the glass. I believe the insturctions for this is on the bottle of Folk Art Enamel glass paint as well.

Hi Cindy. I don’t put any sealer on the paint after I paint it. The Folkart Enamel paint that I use cures and becomes quite hard. The glass is baked in the oven after I paint it which speeds up the curing process.

Hello, I use Folk Art enamel paints. They are meant to be used on glass and after the glass is painted I put it in the oven to bake which cures the paint so you can wash the glass safely.

S. D when I bake the glasses I put them in a cold oven and then turn the temperature up to 320F. Once it gets to temperature I bake them for 30 minutes and then turn the heat off. Once the oven is cool is when I open the door. Just don't bake items that have a glued piece attached like a cake done. The glue will melt. 🙂

I try and stay about a 1/2” away from the rim of the glass. If things that are sharp like teeth rub up against the painted area it can chip off.

@@mildredruiz1554 you should be able to cure wine bottles in the oven without a problem. Most glass is fine in the oven except anything that might have bubbles inside. I use Folkart Enamels for painting wine glasses but there are lots of good glass paints available as well. Unfortunately I don’t know of any varnishes that would be good for glass that is painted with non glass paints. They just aren’t very durable and can cause the glass to be cloudy and the paint will still wash off it the glass is soaked in water.
