Check out Steve Cronin also he uses water colours tho but takes you through every step paints brushes etc, not as photorealistic as these but still beautiful pictures.

Have you tried the Water Mixable Oil Colours? Might be worth trying a comparison, considering you only need water to clean up and use as thinners. Loving the work as always!

Beautiful painting, but it also demonstrates the surprising difficulty of painting sand. Do you paint the little ridges and divots impressionistically or do you try to render their forms? Or do you kind of split the difference? Michael does it as well as anybody, but if even he can't pull it off perfectly you really know it's difficult.
