I purchased mine from rock auto and yes the 87 tanks should fit. Make sure you order the right tank based on being a long or short bed.

@@CarolinaMikeGarage And if you're running fuel injection, get the 87 tanks, that was the first year GM offered fuel injection in their trucks.
