There was a guy who went around buying 1$ and 5$ chips from casinos and would repaint them by hand, used airbrushes and did all the special effects to turn them into bigger amount and cash them in. I definitely can believe him when he says that the paint could of been used to make counterfeit cash.

Amazing! The original and first owner of my Brabus Roadster coupé had it resprayed from new with chameleon flip paint blended into a metallic flip to the rear. That was very unique and looked great but bloody expensive in 2004!

Our B series Falcons here in Australia came out with a colour very similar to that called Fantasy purple. Pretty rare colour, when polished and ceramic coated it’s absolutely amazing.

I remember back in the early to mid 90`s there was a paint called chameleon that did the same thing and you could buy it off the shelf, cost $ 1000.00 AUS for a 4 LTR tin plus all the other stuff to go with. They used prisms in the paint to get the effect of light refraction, changing the colour.

I saw a Porsche Carrera GT painted with chameleon paint in Monaco years ago. Had a decent Sony camera but couldn't get a good picture of it. Then I noticed other people taking pictures looking at their cameras and shaking their heads LoL tough color to picture I guess. Looked crazy cool though.

When using very small amounts of a toner you do not want to use a wooden stir stick. It can absorb some of the color.

So I looked into this a little deeper & it was the ‘96 Mystic color that had a connection to the $20 bill. Apparently you can only obtain it through a paint shop with your vin. Really cool piece of history. These videos are always so great, Thank you!

I remember reading a pamphlet when I had to spend time at my mom's work when I was in high school about PPG Transitions paint which was remarkably similar to Mystic and Mystichrome. I loved it. I've wanted something painted in a Transitions color pair ever since but considering it would cost more than any vehicle I've ever owned just to paint a motorcycle gas tank... it hasn't happened.

I actually ceramic coated that car a few months before it was wrecked. Was so sad to see it happen, but i did notice it had been repainted before. Noticeable orange peel on the driver quarter. Dude the episodes where you're in the paint booth are some of my favorites. Loved this. Also, say what you will about Ford, but their colors are sick. I love Tuxedo Black and I'm so happy Smurf has some touches of it. Grabber Blue and Kona Blue are beautiful. The Ruby Red is incredible, as is Triple Yellow. I always liked Guard Metallic. It's simultaneously gray and green depending on the angle. Oh and Molten Orange is incredible, too! There are so many more, Ford does great with their colors.

I've always loved this color ever since I first got into cars when I was little. I was a Mustang guy first, then I got into JDM stuff. Mystichrome is like an American Midnight Purple 2 (or 3? It's kinda like a combo of both IMO).

We painted this at the shop I worked at. I remember we couldn't even pull the code up with our envirobase system. Ford had to bring it out and they took back the material that was left. Stuff was crazy. Even the ppg Chameleon I have is a 100 bucks a oz. Absurd if u ask me haha

I owed a 96 Mystichrome Cobra for a few years, and after buying the car discovered it was actually wrecked at some point (did not show up on Carfax). The bodywork was awful and cheaply done, but the trunk/quarter/hood was re-sprayed in the super expensive paint, what a waste. I ended up selling the car, and the new owner hired the lowest bidder for transport. The truck driver failed to secure the upper ramp on the car carrier and the top ramp smashed down on top of the car for miles and miles, completely crushing the roof in. Sadly the new owner opt-ed out on transport insurance with the carrier to save like $50, and was left with a totaled car. He then harassed me over the phone/emails for months threatening me, trying to get me to buy car back at full price. Fun times.

Dude makes laying down complicated color shift pearls look easy. They're anything but. TVR used to have some really cool color shift and hyper shift paints that you could buy your cars in. My favorite was a hyper shift white pearl.

@Robert Porte Found it on Craig's List. It was 20 years old with 10 miles on it. The man's wife bought it new just looking for a bike to get fit on. She rode it twice 5 miles each and almost fell off both times. Husband said as soon as he saw the bike he knew she had to have it because of the paint. Never let her forget it. As a paint sprayer almost my whole working life, I always paint wearing paper coveralls and air-fed spray mask painting Solvent, Solid,water based and 2K products. Why is it that watching these American based videos alomost all the painters wear the basic stuff, T-shirts Non airfed masks, nothing covering their hair? In this video 4K paint?, why do you take the risk of fluff, hair contaminate etc etc etc. on a job that is obviously to be as clean as possible. For the sake of investing in a $5 paper suit really escapes me....

I just always called it Chamillion paint job. Seen quite a few since the late 80s here in Southern California. My 99 Rolla has a a bit of resemblance to that style of paint.

You knew it as that because in the 90's, the trend became popular because the paint company House of Kolor introduced the world to their $800-1100/qt Kameleon color shifting paint that it seemed like everyone on MTV Cribs had one of their Bentley/Mercedes/Lamborghini/Ferrari painted in it, bragging about their $50k paint job.

Try wearing a paint suite that might help with the dirt along with wearing down the floor and wiping down your air line along with a ground chain from the frame to the floor ... I've done a lot of paint jobs in down draft spray booths and got dust free paint jobs along with outside paint jobs that turned out great... That was a tricky color to paint for the match looks great... Usually after I tack cloth a car I will go over it with my hand as well to wipe it off you hand is the best tack rag money can buy just keep it clean and wash your hands with wash & wipe but before I start masking I blow the car fully under the frame inside the wheel wells and moor compartment on wet driveway to get out as much dirt as possible... The ground chain helps get rid of the static charge so the body does not act like a magnetic for dust to cling to the car...

Back in 2002 I worked for a ford dealer and our lot jockey decided to scrape the side of a mystic chrome Cobra against the showroom door, bumper, fender, mirror, drivers door, and quarter panel all scraped up. Since the car had a whopping 10 miles on it, the service manager wanted to spray the whole car, but Ford would only allow us enough pigment and toner to repaint the specific panels. The body shop guy was very nervous because the amount of pain he can mix up was barely enough to cover all those panels, like you said we had to send back the unused paint to Ford. I don’t remember if there was a Ford rep there I just know our pink guy was very very nervous because I think the 2 quarts of paint or so that he mixed up with somewhere around the $1500 range.

Thats a awesome color for a rad ride. I knew a guy that painted vehicles and Murals on them as well. After a while his body had created a allergen to the paint mist. His body would absorb the mists in the both and hours later turn his skin Blue, everyone called him Papa Smurf. He ended up having to wear kinda like those bio/paint suits into the both, it help alot. He couldn't lose the nickname though. Just be safe and take care.

My s14 factory paint was really close to that, but not as blue and with more green. But it would shift from green blue purple. The metallic flake really helped the effect.
