Great job once again When doing any fireplace as feature wall, do u always start from the centre and when it comes to the corners Measure the distance from the edge of the wallpaper in the centre to the front corner of the chimney breast, then add 25mm. Cut a length of paper to this width and hang, taking the extra 25mm round the corner, overlapping the side piece. Repeat for the other side , and then overlap the piece round the corner to the wall to finish.is this how you do the corners.

My only concern I would use a sponge on the external corner gives a muck better finish the a hanging brush. And definitely use a caulking board and Stanley knife. From a time served decorator like your self.

Ive only ever wallpapered flat feature walls but tomorrow i have to papery chimney breast which is unfortunately wider at the top than the bottom, was hoping you would show how to go around the external corner and i would be lucky enough for it to be out lol

Great job and well explained, did you line first ? and what circumstances would you line?
@PaintingandDecorating6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, in this case no need to line usually only line if the paper is very thin and light in colour or the walls are crazed. I always line if the instructions on the paper advice to though.

Great video informative as usual, I do have a question when you paste two lengths at a time like you did with the first two you said it's critical to get the soaking times the same but if it only takes you a couple of minutes to paste two lengths but over five minutes to hang the first piece then that means the second length has been soaking for at least 3-4 minutes longer? Cheers Ian
@PaintingandDecorating6 жыл бұрын
IAN Knight you adjust how long it is before you paste the second.

Would papering around an external corner, cause the paper to go out of plum? Do you need to overlap like you would with an internal corner?
@PaintingandDecorating4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the return, if you have more paper to put on then it has to be plumb.. usually loose it actually on the corner if it does not line up. Thanks

at what point do you make the decision not to wrap full piece round and butt up and go for wrapping round 20mm and overlapping to match
@sixzerothreeonesevensixnine6 жыл бұрын
I'm doing this on my course at the moment and im really struggling. I keep taring paper or putting it on upside down or just generally making terrible cuts, even when I finally got a length on the today when putting the next piece on i caught the first piece and tore it, Im really disappointed in myself, I've been told I'm a good painter but I just feel like packing it in because I can't see that I'm going to improve. I'm not sure my aspergers isn't something to do with it eitiher. Sorry to be a moan, you're very good at it even with the camera recording.
