5 years on and this video is still helpful! Thanks for this, had a similar issue and the solution worked like a charm, really hope logitech will consider merging both apps into one 'logitech options', don't get why we have to install a separate app just for non-unifying dongles =/

Through your encouraging research, I was able to connect the old dongle to my mouse using the unifying software. I tried both the unifying software and the connection utility software. I wouldn't have known there was such a thing as unifying software and connection utility software without this video.

This was awesome! I have a non-unifying K270 keyboard and a non-unifying M185 mouse, and was able to use this software to get both of them paired to the mouse's original non-unifying dongle!

Very helpful! Logitech technicians should receive this training. I called them and they couldn't figure it out, so they are sending me a new receiver that has the unifying setting/star on it.

Dude worked perfect. This is good to know. Also PS you can use the connection app with win 10 too. When someone reads the specs it says Win7 and etc but it works with WIN10. Thanks dude!

I wish i could give this video a thousand likes. You sir are a god amongst men. The unifying receiver for my Logitech m705 marathon mouse went missing. I ordered a replacement and eventually that died. Ive had a few mice that gave up the ghost after a while. I found 2 non unifying nano receivers and decided screw it lets try and with the unifying software nothing happened. Did some googling as I was getting tired of Logitech m170 ive been using. Missed my m705 and the extra buttons and better ergonomics. This video got my m705 paired to a random nano receiver i had laying around and i am very grateful! Super helpful video! I have two pairs of M310's (one started having defective sensors, so I bought a second one as a replacement), and the receiver on my newer M310 stopped working. Thanks your video was helpful, you basically pair the mouse with the receiver once in windows, the mouse will register the receiver's serial number (or at least that is what i think) after that it will connect to it automatically whatever OS you are using. I dont have a windows computer so i used a virtual machine (win7 in virtualbox) that i keep for such matters, "Logitech Unifying Software" is what worked for me. Now im using my M525 mouse + my K375s keyboard with one unifying receiver under Linux. Thanks again for sharing your experience

Thanks very much for the video post, it came in handy and worked for me too. But like you I had to did an old windows laptop out of a closet and update it and then use it to pair a mouse to a usb dongle. PS I have used Ubuntu/Linux for the last 10 years and every once in a while I find something that a windows OS becomes useful for. But it's going right back into the closed until needed, if ever again.

For linux there is a tool named "solaar". It does the same. Tested with ubuntu and my logitech hardware.

This worked in 2020 on my 2013 - 2014 mouse (M187 purchased in Singapore). I should note the application "Logitech connection utility software" didn't work on Windows 10, but I had an old Win7 PC and it worked (It could be that I found and downloaded version 2.20.28, and maybe the latest version 2.30.9 just doesn't work). This M187 mouse is now re-paired with it's original USB RECEIVER and can now be used with my other PC's instead of it trying to pair to my unifying receiver. I'll buy you a coffee next time you are in Australia,

good video. after finding out about the unifying option I went ahead and paired my mouse to the receiver that came with my keyboard just to free up a front USB port, I use my desktop paired to a 50" TV. within a minute or 2, I started to notice lag from the mouse. now I'm running both receivers inside the case wired up to the USB 2.0 ports. nice and stealthy...

Just to update - this works for unifying software as well! It is a different download, but logitech has a program that does the same thing for the receivers that are "unifying". We had bought a mouse secondhand that appeared to not work, but after watching this video, I thought I would try his fix anyway, and then logitech directed me to their unifying version, and IT WORKED. YES. :) Thought I would post for anyone who was desperately trying for a fix.

Thanks homie! I just got a M330 that was going to be for my Pi4 that i run VPN on and use for Netflix and whatnot. The silent clicks are too nice to reserve for such minimal operations so I paired to my work mouse's unifying receiver - then realized I dont have a work mouse anymore. Your guide worked perfect to unify a unifying logitech mouse with a non-unifying receiver. I use the logitech unifying software to get myself into this mess...that only works with a unifying receiver though. Thanks again man!

It worked.. I have a Linux laptop and a PC tower. My Logitech M525 was paired with it's original receiver on my Linux laptop. I then bought a wireless Logitech keyboard for my PC tower and it came with its own receiver and the keyboard is "unified". So I added my mouse to it thinking I could use the same mouse with both devices and both receivers. ABSOLUTELY NOT! Logitech devices can only be paired with one receiver and that's it. I tried everything even removing the batteries for a full reset. The only thing that worked is the solution here. BTW, I had UNpaired my mouse prior to that hoping that being unpaired it would return to its original settings. it does NOT. You absolutely need to use that software to unpair then re-air with the other receiver. Real pain but this video saved the day! I subscribed!

It woks only because your M305 is Unify compliant (has the logo underneath), but unfortunately not all M305 are Unify compliant, such as mine ... and i lost the receiver ... :(
