Perfect, and thanks for the video. In my case, the dongle was bad and wasn't connecting to any USB port on my computers, which was causing the issue (it would work if I applied upward pressure to the dongle while in the USB slot). I purchased an M317 mouse from Sam's for $12 and got the dongle I needed for much cheaper than online. Then I used the software you demonstrated to connect the devices to the new dongle. Badda-bing! My wireless keyboard and mouse combo is working again.

This was the thing I was lookking for ages. I have the same mouse M185 with a Keyboard that comes in combo. I lost the single-dongle that worked with them. you solution worked, you just need to do it twice for keyboard as well. BONUS, the dong I paire with them is for another combo MK220 a bit bigger dongle in size but it worked. Many thanks sir!

True, but thankfully they do have the utility. Logitech has become the choice of corporate America. As an independent field engineer, I can vouch that this is by far the most common keyboard mouse combo I come across using the non-unifying receive. Each location is the exact same: they’ll have a stack of unpaired keyboard, mice, and dongles. In a matter of minutes, I can have them all paired up and ready for service. The newly paired kbd-mice combos all get snatched up in a matter of days.

Correct, this is strictly a Logitech app that re-pairs their non-unifying receivers with orphaned keyboards and mice. A utility that would accomplish that with 3rd party products would be: very freaking useful ;)

The reason it’s not picking it up is because the K270 keyboard requires a unifying receiver. It’s a different type of technology. The unifying receiver has a little orange logo on the side of it. The non-unifying receivers do not have that. You cannot mix and match them. You would need a mouse that uses a unifying receiver to pair with the 270 keyboard. Also, there is a separate utility that pairs unifying receivers.

Sadly, no. You cannot interchange equipment or dongles with unifying & nonunifying variants. If the mice and keyboard were designed for a unifying receiver, they must use a unifying receiver and vice versa for the noninifying ones.

It does not have to be the same model mouse, but it has to be a non-unifying receiver. The best way to tell the difference between a unifying receiver and a non-unifying receiver is the unifying receiver has a little orange sun logo on it. The non-unified receiver does not have that.

You have a unifying receiver, which is denoted by the Orange logo on the side. The utility I displayed in this video was strictly and exclusively for non-unifying receivers. The difference being that your was designed to connect to multiple devices, not just the keyboard and mouse with which it was shipped. Go to the website www.logitech.com/unifying You should find the utility you need at that location. I have used it before to pair additional devices., But it has been a while, and I don’t often counter the unifying receiver variance in the workforce. I find that non-unifying ones frequently. I had to do it just yesterday.

Yes, provided that the keyboard & mouse originally worked with a non-unifying receiver. No mixing and matching between unifying and non-unifying keyboard, mice, and dongles - sweet as it would be if that were the case. Both in this video, and in every case I have done this process since, I have had the same model keyboard and mice that were sold as a set, but just mixed up between other identical units and the dongles. I have not tried to pair a keyboard and mouse from different models with a dongle.

That’s a good question because I happen to have the K580 kid/track-mouse combo. The K580 has a universal dongle denoted by that little symbol on it. The non-unifying mouse dongles do not have that. If I get a chance, I will be at a location on 2/5 that has spare M171 dongles. I’ll try it with my K580 to see if it pairs. There is a different pairing utility that is for those universal dongle. Also, you can simply buy the dongle. I have seen those listings elsewhere.

I used the Logitech Connectivity Software as shown in the video. Make sure your receiver is a non-unifying receiver. If it has a little orange sun logo, it's a unifying receive rand requires using a different utility. I have a video on doing that in my channel. If your receiver is non-unifying, it may be bad. I have had 1-2 out of 20 go that way.

Hello! Great video. I'm trying to do it on a Win11 machine, but it has a weird behaviour. When I download the software, it opens normally, but then when I click on next after I connect the USB dongle, the software closes on it's own. It´s not a RAM or resources problem, the app just closes after connecting the dongle and clicking on next. I would very much thank some help. For extra info, its a G305 Lightspeed Wireless, and the software version I tried downloading was 2.30.9, however I tried using the other versions that support this mouse and same behaviour happened (on the software models that didn't support it, the dongle just didn't appear) Thanks in advance!

I do not have a G305 mouse, but from what I see, it requires the G hub software. Try installing that. I am curious if that app work have the effect of pairing the mouse. Either way, that is a requirement, which may explain why the software terminates age clicking next.

Yes, you must use the Logitech non-unifying receivers if you are using a non-unifying keyboard/mouse set. You can tell which one you are using because the unifying keyboard & mice have the little star inside the orange rectangle. The non-unifying dongles and keyboard have no such thing. Also, the non-unifying receivers are wireless but not bluetooth.

I don’t have a Windows laptop. I have a Win11 PC stick. I capture video on my MacBook using a USB-c video input and Barrier for keyboard & mouse. That’s why you see the MacOS desktop at times, but the Logitech app ride native on a pure Win11 system.

For me, it makes sense as it mimicks the functionality I had on my Intel MacBook Pro with a Native Win10 partition via Bootcamp that I could use on jobs that required Windows. I kept up a Parallels Desktop subscription to allow me to run the native Win10 partition concurrently with MacOS. Apple silicon does not support Bootcamp. While I need the advantages of the silicon architecture esp its amazing battery life, I could not do without native Windows. The PC stick gives me that benefit. I use it often.

Yes, that is how I use it. I do it about every two weeks at a client site. They have scores of these keyboards in service so end up collecting mismatches. You will need to select Win10 as the O/S to see the software download, but it runs just fine on Win11. I have run it on a Win11 laptop and a Win11 pocket PC - all successful.

The logitech M1 90 is a budget mouse coming in under $20, which surprise me is one that actually uses a unifying receiver. If you’re watching the video to your posting comment, that is one for non-unifying receivers. Those are the ones with the little orange sun icon on them. If by chance you use a non-unifying receiver, it won’t work with this mouse. you can buy a unifying receiver on Amazon and pair it with this mouse, put it will nearly cost whatever brand new mouse would cost $13.99, which is nearly the price of the M190 at $19.99.

I have run it on Windows 10 & 11 on a laptop and on a virtual machine running atop MacOS Sonoma. What is your host operating system and PC? Maybe I can see if there’s a fix. Also, if you haven’t done this in a while (or ever), delete the contents of the C:\Windows\Temp folder and reboot. Maybe something there is interfering with this app.

Should Logitech recievers work with any Logitech keyboard\mouse, or are they unique to the the keyboard\mouse that they came with? I have a MK320 keyboard/mouse combo that's missing its reciever that I'm trying to get working. I have nine recievers with Logitech's name on them. I am using the Logitech connection utiltiy. The connection utility does not recognize over half of the recievers as even being Logitech, even though the recievers have Logitech's name on them. I'm on the verge of NEVER buying anymore wireless Logitech keyboard or mouse again.

The universal receivers have an orange-like logo on them. They require the utility for the universal receiver. Aside from that distinction, I don’t know how successful the pairing process will be. The one location where I use this process has the same model mouse/keyboard combo and exact same dongle.

This is invalid!!! They seem to not have it any more. Just says ‘There are no downloads for this version’ and that’s as far as u can go. Well, I haven’t tried that. I don’t believe it will simply because it’s a different manufacturer. The utility used to pair the non-original dongle to a mouse is for logitech non-unifying USB receivers and the mice they were designed to control. That said, it won’t hurt anything to try. If it does work, do let me know. I bet there are a lot of others in that situation that would love such a solution. Always think out the box!

Why do you say that? I did this just last week using my Windows 11 Pocket PC, and it worked each time. I do add that while I was able to pair three keyboards and mice, two others did not work. It turned out to be the mice that went bad; the keyboards paired to the dongles in both of those cases.

There are times I have worked on systems where I had to connect to a slow USB 2.0 port (black color) because the super-speed (blue ports) didn't recognize slow dumb input devices. I also carry around a janky USB 2.0 4-port hub partly for that reason as well.

Thanks for the video, but I'm slightly lost. Is this supposed to work for unifying devices without their original unifying dongle. I bought a second hand keyboard which was working fine with a logi dongle but when I tried it in my computer it didn't work, and to pair it asks for the unifying dongle, which i don't have. I got it real cheap so it's not about the money, i just want to use it 😅

The ones I have used have been a keyboard & mouse that use a dongle. In that scenario, it appears to be the mouse that is the critical device because that's the only one I pair to the dongle. Once paired, both keyboard and mouse work with that dongle. It's worth a try and see if the app in the video will do the trick for you.

Bueno, yo hago esto a menudo en un lugar donde presto servicio de IT uno o días días de la semana. Encuentro teclados y ratones no coincidentes casi a diario. Casi siempre los compongo co este método, pero sucede que algunos USB adaptadores dejan de funcionar. Tal vez eso fue el caso contigo. De cada diez adaptadores que encuentro uno está mal.

Total waste of money. If your keyboard doesn't have the unifying logo on it, it won't work. And it won't unify different brands. Just buy the mouse and keyboard separately so you don't need this waste of money.

Not so. The keyboard, mouse, and dongle do pair, but they are all non-unifying. The unifying versions have their own utility to re-pair when the dongles get mixed and matched. As for being a waste, that is probably the case in when the conditions are narrowed. Lots of companies buy these combos because they are functional and cheaper than the unifying variations.
