Pak-Mor Rear-Load Garbage Trucks

One of the service features in LA County's 7 Garbage Disposal Districts is an annual cleanup event, where residents are given a certain Saturday in Spring or early Summer based upon their regular trash day, where they can throw as much stuff as they want to the curb (including hazardous waste, electronics, and tires) to be collected for free, by the hauler for that GDD. In the Mesa Heights GDD, UWS uses 2-4 rear loaders depending on the size of each area, plus a flatbed for HHW, electronics, and tires.
In this video, you will see #91 from UWS, an ex-San Diego CCC LET with a 25-yard Pak-Mor body first. Second you'll see #142, a Volvo WXLL, also with a 25-yard Pak-Mor body. I have no idea where 142 originally came from but it's something I'd like to find out. The CCC sounded particularly fantastic, so there are two shots taken from right beside the engine for audio purposes. The Volvo sounded great as well, although unfortunately my camera didn’t pick up to much of the noise.

An entertaining post right here, the closest municipality to the LA area (besides Glendale?) that used WXLL/Load Liners was Fresno...I have pics of one that I keep meaning to put on flickr. The only thing I would add on the tailgate would be orange chevrons over the red :) Can't help but thing that would still look cool

I'm going to go ahead assume that the Volvo also came from SD, based on the similar Pak-Mor body and associated cart tippers. Nice sounding trucks!

You're right, that CCC did sound real good. I was already anticipating a nice sound just from the looks of the truck lol I thought it was cool seeing the packer move from the outside like at 4:45. Also, the large furniture is always fun to see get collected. I too am curious where the WXLL came from. Awesome looking truck. I was really hoping to go to the Valley Vista one near me, especially since it's likely that they use a Maxon FL for bulk still. There's one on the 16th, but otherwise I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for another one. Was that CCC RL with the black rims also from ESD for one, and for two was it on clean up? Nice video!

I’m just wondering when I Drove a RearLoader for B. F. I. You just hit the Lever and the Blade opens comes down crushing everything! We never had to use both hands to run the Packer Blade . And this truck is like the other bulk rear Loaders the Packer Cycle sure is Fucken slow! But a little T. L. C. The Trucks will run Operate better makes for a good day on the job.

That kind of tipper is slow as hell man. Super frustrating. It would be perfect if ESD bought two of the ones they use now though. You'd probably shave an hour off that Tuesday route...

Too me a Driver of 30 Years this truck the packer is to slow that packer suppose to open and come down on what ever is in the hopper. And. What’s with the guys get all memorized at the packer blade . You get a better brake down of these bulk items . Five years I drove a Rear Loader like this one.

Jose Carrillo I’ll tell you this Jose I was a House to house helper when i. Was 14 it was hard at home so I set out to try to take care of myself and it worked lot of the older guy took me under there wing. At 18 got my CDL a month later had my first Route and back then house to house was all Manual. 20-25 tons a day by myself. Then 10 years later I got on the commercial routes Driving a Front Loader For the Next 21 years I’m happy to say also I kept my Driving record clean to this day. Jose I wish you good luck 👍 because this is one of the hardest job you can do and Dangerous . Example a friendly mine got to a stop his been driving or 7 years he was at his pace but if your not paying attention at all time shit will happen he jumped out the truck he thought he pulled the parking brake he heard the air when his came off brake paddle as his back was turned. Truck started rolling he told me he turned around there was the truck he tried to jump out the way not in Time the truck pined him to the wall of the building and lost his leg. Jose I hope you got Friends in the industry to help you with questions and things you should know on every truck you drive and Korean everything from Frontloader Roll Off and House to house ASL. .
