CPEC is not the only reason for debt crisis. It is one of the reasons, a big one. But the real reason is the nature of Pakistani society. Lack of education, wisdom, extreme religious radicalism, unwillingness to take efforts, lack of clarity and extreme level of hypocricy. Due to all this, Pakistan easily got ready for a crazy thing like CPEC. It basically sold it's sovereignty to China in the name of CPEC.

Chinese loans come with riders that contracts will go to Chinese companies. Even labour will be imported from china. So they give you money with right hand and take it back with left hand. And you are then left with the debt.

@@raitarun323 I'm sure Islamism causes a lot of problems for India. And how India wants to handle Hindu-Muslim relations is its own internal matter. But at least on what is going on in China, I can tell you that what you are saying is actually not true. The Moody's Credit rating is based on a country's indebtedness and their ability to pay back loans. Right now most of China's local and municipal governments are heavily indebted and having trouble meeting all their expenses. One reason for this is just the covid lockdown. But the other two reasons are heavily related to the one child policy. First is that the dependency ratio is getting worse since there are few children. This means the population is getting older and more people are retired and do not create income. They receive more in social services than they pay back as taxes which strains the economy. The other issue is the decline in the housing market in China has deprived local governments of land sale revenue, because no one wants to buy new houses. But this also is related to the one child policy. The population is declining so the total number of houses needed is also less. So implementing a one child policy in India will not improve its credit rating, in fact it will likely make it worse. There might be other reasons such as demographic shift that India might have valid concerns about birth rate. But on a national level the real issue in India is that the birth rate is actually too low. If you look at a country like Indonesia, they have a higher GDP per capita AND a higher fertility rate, which is a major advantage for them over India. The moment your rate dips below 2.1 or 2.2 that is a problem because it is very hard to raise the fertility rate once it has dropped. The urban rate especially in India should be a big concern.

If you don't stand up for the nation when nation needs you most, you loose your credibility forever. Now, he appears very balanced in his reporting because he has no other way. The country under the leadership of Modi is doing well, rather very well, than the days of 'fragile five'. You must stand firm with a strong spine when it's expected of you. Both Uncle Sam and PRC's interests are deeply embedded into Pak, especially since India is repeatedly seen to possess a dangerously independent policy! Losing Pak would be like giving away a final ace from the stack and thereby losing the ability, to keep India under leash. How is the collapse of a nuclear power beneficial for anyone?
@petairowdy
@petairowdy Жыл бұрын
Collapse means something like becoming a total vassal state of a bigger power. Organically such a state wouldn't have gotten nuclear power by themselves, another one of USA hegemonic blunders that the world has to face now. USA probably has to become that bigger power, run the state with a shadow govt.

The Indus valley is a strategic location because it is surrounded by countries (Iran, India, China) that are friendly to ... Russia!!! And Russia is the Bogeyman of the Anglo-Saxons. The Anglo-Afghan wars were fought to stop Afghanistan and the Indus valley from coming under Russian sphere of influence.

The state of Pakistan economy or otherwise, is a subject which has been beaten to death in the past few months. This country has been on the boil for some time and you have done enough episodes on it, which are basically a rehash of each other. Drop it Sir, and wait for some real dramatic events to occur before attempting another one. In the meanwhile there are many other current issues which deserve a decluttering.

Hi, Gupta ji hope you are fine , today in the G-20 summit I really missed you . The anchor who interviewed minister Lavrov was so rude to him , it was beyond my imagination. I Wish you or Palki could have done the interview. I Know the man who did it is one of the heads of Raisina institution but he does not have manner . The only country who helped us when we were in need , we should make sure that the representative of that country does not feel angry . This anchor took the interview so badly that I am feeling that Mister lavrov might get angry by his behavior. We needed a matured, educated person like you who knows what to ask and how to behave with our friend Russia's second most important person . Love your show . Regards .

@8:17, when Shekhar says don't blame a faith for population growth. He talks like a newbie/ poorly informed reporter. And not a well versed researcher, which he claims to be. Indonesia, although being Muslim, is much less radicalized and is influenced heavily with Indian culture which remains there till today. The Muslims there are not radicalized to the same degree as of sub continents or og Middle East.

Dear Shekhar, thank you for this focused attention on burning issues like this one. One question- usually at times like this there is some kind of expression of popular anger. Do you think this will be directed at the de jure government with the army escaping all blame? Also as a lay person, I was wondering if this was the right time for Pakistani arms export - basically getting rid of non front line weapons to Ukraine and other war zones (very much non liberal thinking but when you are on the brink what can a nation do…)
