Great! I am from sukkur and i live 500m away from hotel one. I am in lahore these days otherwise would have given you a short company. Hope you visited masoom minarate ,only 2 km away from hotel one.A historical site. Also lab e mehran park.once glorious but now derelict park. "Cuckoo for horn honking" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Hahahahaha! This is 100% correct. On our work trips into Sukkur and Khairpur we'd keep begging the driver not to blow the horn so much. Visited once with a photographer from the US and he was completely traumatised by the time we reached the place we were staying!

A new organisation is in making as a Tourist Police. They won't pester and won't carry guns. The one you came across, their local junior officers were trying to impress you with their authority and guns. Its like a culture to this area. You will witness few landlords called Chaudrys and Vaderas with gun toting guards. These are the big people with small egos.

Are you travelling only by train? I would like to travel from Lahore to Karachi by train and stop in some places and stay one/2 nights at every city/village. Do you have some tips? Stay safe !! Alex

Hey Alex, it's not really possible to visit the all the amazing historical sites and just travel by train. If you follow my route (watch the sightseeing videos for lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sukkur) you'll have to do a combination of train, bus, car/driver. Once you start to research the trip you'll see it's not so simple if your goal is visiting UNESCO sites and the gorgeous deserts. But that is a fun trip, I loved it.

I explain if you can take alcohol to restaurants or not and if there is a room for foreigners. Please watch whichever hotel video you need information for.

I had a police escort of 2 armed men when I visited in 1992. I stayed on an outside charploy for 70cents. I left the next day because of the attention the police create.

Ah that's a pity but I do know that feeling.. But for me, once I got the groove with police escorts and realise it is simply protocol it's not so bad. I would have a good rapport with the guys and tell them to chill out on moving people out of the way etc as that embarrassed me a lot but other than that it's just "what it is" and it's worth it to explore places most foreigners would never see otherwise.

@@freeagent8225 ahhhh that's wonderful. We definitely have varying views though on PK. I love it, having a blast -- especially the time I spent in Balochistan. But I have never felt at home here in the way i think you mean. I will always dress modestly in countries like PK but I don't act like a local for sure (or not the way I think you mean it). My local friends drink and have cocktail parties and I haven't really spent time in normal households that didn't have at least 3 or 4 household staff. BUT AGAIN, I love the adventure of PK but I think I would last 2-3 years if I had been able to setup my company and live here.
