As a teacher I appreciate your ability to provide concrete examples that demonstrate the theory. I don't know if it has been a conscious effort on your part or a natural evolution of your time doing this gig, but I really think you have slowed down your speech while presenting here. It makes a big difference. I remember it being something I worked on as a teacher over the years. Thanks for the info, have a great Sunday!

Hey Charlie! Thank you and I'm glad you noticed! Yeah, I'm working really hard on that. 99% because, interestingly, a huge number of the audience has English as a 2nd language, and if I slow down a bit, they can better follow along. It's finding the right tempo -- both in the studio and even more importantly in Editing - that's always the challenge. Don't hesitate to let me know anytime if you see something that can be improved and I appreciate your feedback!! 🙏

@@pal2tech Cool!! One thing we don't realize as speakers sometimes is that we need to pause and give listeners time to process what we just said before saying more. It makes a huge difference. Question: I've been limping along with the Fuji Raw Converter since they deprecated Express. Well, I just had a birthday and my family bought me a C1 license. Where do you recommend I start with tutorials? What are your feelings about catalogue vs. session? Thanks again for everything!

Amazing. I thought I knew all this but you presented a couple of concepts in a way I never thought of before. I finally understand the reverse pinhole effect is why DoF is narrower with larger fl. 👍

Would have been fair to mention that you cropped in on the 23mm at 11:00 as well, as this is misrepresenting DOF. If you would have gotten closer and chose the same composition, the background blur would be basically the same. I get that you wanted to show the difference if the distance is the same though. Btw, why did you obliterate that poor lens in the Pizza?

I find the menu system on my X-T5 way confusing. They’ve overblown it. For the life of me, I can’t find the “Preview Depth of Field”. Can anyone help?
@olasek7972
@olasek7972 15 сағат бұрын
I think Fuji’s menu system is (for me) simpler and easier to navigate than other brands. This exact item you are looking for doesn’t exist, at least in such wording, if you want to see your depth of field 1. You have to be in manual focus mode 2. Your “MF ASSIST” should be set to “FOCUS PEAK HIGHLIGHT” which will show you through the shimmering effect where your depth of field is. But since there are two different standards of what constitutes depth of field you have to select which one you want. If you are looking for some old fashion depth of field tape/band it isn’t here.
@number6705

@@olasek7972 Thanks. The depth of field function I’m looking for I found, on an Internet forum - It’s a “hidden” function. This is NOT the shutter hold down 1/2 way.

Somehow, in following this video, I somehow permanently locked my viewmode in LCD mode, can’t get it back to EVF? It’s continuously lit…time to sell this brand-new camera I think
@jayzn1931
@jayzn1931 21 сағат бұрын
There is a button on the right side of the EVF, which usually says "viewmode". Press that a couple times until the camera behaves the way you want. No need to sell the camera. Edit: typo

@@olasek7972 I found the function I’m looking for on an internet forum. A dedicated depth of field function is classified as “hidden”. And I’m not referring to holding the shutter button down 1/2 way either.
