A bunch of other content creators published their videos on the x100vi a couple of days earlier, but none came close to the thoroughness we have come to expect from your videos Chris! We really appreciate you taking the time to make them so well. I bought and loved the xt1 in 2014, I had been wanting to come back into the fujifilm ecosystem, but I don't want to sell all my Sony gear. I pulled the trigger and pre-purchased the x100Vi thinking it could get me using fuji without the need to buy into the whole lens system. This video made me feel better and more exited about this camera. Thanks again!

Great video, very thorough and brought up things that I hadn't seen in other videos. To me this is the perfect camera for someone who is primarily a shooter of another brand because then you don't need to invest in an entire second lens ecosystem. The teleconverter and WCL also make it more flexible with no material loss in quality. Unless you need ultra wide angle for astro or telezoom for wildlife/sports then this is the camera for you IMO. It's the perfect travel/street/everyday camera to me :)

I've to use a slow charger, i mean slow for mother standards, but works with the XT30...really strange stuff :/

Hi, thanks for the video. I own a X-T5, I know that I take most of my pictures in 35mm equivalent. I'm wondering how much the importance of a smaller form factor counts (42% less weight than the X-T5 + 23mm f2). You said you enjoyed taking pictures with it and that you where sad to have to send it back. Are you going to buy one ?
@christianpetersen17827 ай бұрын
Far less weight when compared to the X-T5 with a lens, far less bulk, much less expensive and fits in a jacket pocket without it pulling the pocket off! It also has a leaf shutter and built-in flash with a sync speed of 1/4,000 sec. I guess there’s room to own both if one can afford it. I’d love to have the form factor of the X-T5 but the cost with lens and added weight I’ll go with the X100VI as an every day walkabout combination providing much more fun than an iPhone.

I have question. I noticed photographers are always mentioning the conversion of a lens' focal length to "35mm format"? Why is that?

Okay, comment from the end. . . I have had an XE4 with the 27mm pancake. It was the size I wanted for and everyday carry. It was my gateway into the Fujifilm system. I soon added some lenses and not long after I added lenses, I realized I needed WR., which the XE4 did not have. Enter a very fine XT5. The jump from the 26mp to the 40mp sensor was an eye opener. Next up I decided to send my XE4 to my daughter-in-law, as she was recovering from cancer and had decided to move forward with photography as a new exploration. I no longer had an everyday carry camera that would sit on my shoulder wherever it went. My XT5 has 3 marvelous lenses that handle my shooting needs. I have the amazing 16-55 f2.8 red badge, the 50-140 f2.8 red badge and the 70-300 zoom. Sitting on my XT5 my pictures shine with these 3 lenses. But for an EDC - the XT5 and the 16-55 f2.8 weighs in at 1394 grams - an X100VI is only 521. That was my reason for buying the X100VI - it will reside on my shoulder whenever I'm out and about. It's menu memory is firmly planted in my brain as it's so close to the XT5. I know I can rely on it as an EDC as it's lighter touch on my 70ish shoulders. Keep Calm and Fuji On!

Why not get a 27 for xt5
@jimfielder7 ай бұрын
@@cyano3d Two reasons: 1. I want the 23mm angle of view! I was not enamored with the 27mm angle of view. My “eye” pre visualizes in 23. 2. Compactness over the shoulder for EDC. 3. Leaf shutter and ND built in.

Great news about your eyes ... when you have cataract lens implants, you can ask for perfect vision! I did and after 50 years of crummy vision, I now have eagle vision! I had one eye set for distance and the other for close vision. They switch, automatically and they also work together for improved, 3d comprehension. As a photographer, it has been amazing for the last 20 years for me to see perfectly! The only gotcha is they have to do both eyes within 14 days. This wasn't a problem! Well worth asking about!!!

Worth the upgrade coming from V to VI. Ibis and autofocus upgrades are huge. Only issue is I'm forced to pay $1200 AUD (I got the V on sale, as a preorder on release) more than I did with the V because of the hype. For reference, in Aus, right now, you could get an XT-5 body and a 23mm f/2 for the same price as the VI.

Had to watch your recommendation again - almost heard you telling folks not to get one. But then you said it was hard to send it back and it made you want to take pictures. However, we must disagree about learning photography basics with this camera. It has separate settings for the "triangle" and provides a fun form factor for someone starting out. BTW - My wife learned on a Fujifilm range finder decades ago when ISO (ASA) was set by the film you loaded.

31:54 When using the OVF, IBIS is has 5.5 stops instead of 6. The reason you gave is that "The readout speed of the sensor is slightly slower to preserve power". This is confusing since an OVF uses less power than an EVF. Am I missing something here and can you please explain this more?
@bernardoramos14127 ай бұрын
Hallelujah!!!!! The X100vi video is alive!!! hehehe I was expecting for it (preferring an XT6 instead even so). Thanks Chris !!!
@brownbear1007 ай бұрын
With the V I find I need the diopeter to be set in a completely different position depending whether I'm using the OVF or EVF. Not just a little bit either. With the EVF like you say I'm almost at the end (one click left only). With the IVF I'm closer to the middle (three clicks difference). Which is a major annoyance for someone that likes to switch between the two. And especially annoying when using the OVF with micro EVF in the corner. It is only possible for one of them to appear sharp. Is this still the same with the VI?

This specific camera has always been pushed as a street camera so it makes sense that things like vlogging and keeping the smaller battery aren't as strong. This camera excells at what it was made for - street photography. It was never made as "hybrid" this is the first time they are really pushing higher video specs + ibis. Which is nice, but no one is buying a x100vi for wildlife photography or editorial work and cinematography

I own the X100V and have been looking at all these videos about the six as obviously I am considering upgrading. This is by far the best summary of the new camera, its pros and cons. I only take photographs and I’ve never used the video function on the x100V it simply holds no interest to me but the IBIS for lowlight situations l could be the reasons to upgrade as I take a lot of concert photos. This combined with the extra resolution should make a real difference. Thank you for going through the differences so clearly. A real help. I’m now just deciding if to order now or wait until I visit the States as it’s significantly cheaper there.

Love your channel, I've learned a few important things from your many tips. Regarding the X100VI, I'm going to skip. I am honestly fed up with the amount of technology manufacturers want to include in their cameras, and this goes for Fujifilm, Nikon, Sony, Canon, etc.. There are only a few manufacturers which I think are true to photographers: Pentax, Sigma, Leica, and recently PiXii, I feel those are the really true photographer's tools. The X-Pro2 and X100F/X100V are amazing cameras, and I feel this is where the end of the line is for me, everything beyond that is just gadgetry, nit-picking and pixel peeping technologies. For example, batteries which last less than 300 shots are considered "meh", less than 200 is just unusable. 200 shots is 6 rolls of film, just saying. Journalists don't go through 6 rolls of film per day. 40MP camera is a gadget. Digital has encouraged people to take photos of walls, windows, and bushes, and crop to see a flower, an insect, and wood chips.

One thing I want for my X-T5, and will want for the X100VI (on order) is a film simulation toggle. How many times have you been shooting in one simulation, and want to quickly try another, like NOW, but can't? I have to go to the simulation menu, and that menu is getting longish. I just want a button that goes from, say, Velvia to Acros. *click* color *click* monochrome, etc.
