I'm a SCH/SMN main and I wanted to get to start tanking so I started with gladiator. To get a feel with tanking so I could play gunbreaker with some knowledge of tanking. And I gotta say im having so much fun. I was never into tanking until now. Thanks Larry for your content that made me inspired to play all of these jobs. I think they just meant specifically the character animation... Although TECHNICALLY it's actually getting replaced at 54... By goring blade... Because the upgraded GB initial potency (390) is higher than the upgraded RoH potency (350), effectively making it useless until it gets upgraded to RA at 60... I hope they address this and give it a slight bump so it's worth using during that 5 level gap, even if it's via a trait gained alongside GB to keep it's lower level damage balanced

Oh nice, PLD went from terrible AOE in HW, to better-than-no-AOE in SB, to here, have all this AOE! I've never been a huge fan of the job but I love how the changes look and I'm really excited to play it.

My guess is that Larry just doesn't have it on the hot bar. You can see that Royal Authority is a lvl 60 skill, so I don't think RoH was removed. PLD's gotta have some combo finisher before then. It'll just stay a low level combo.

I mean, RoH is a aggro chain ability. It is useful to take aggro, but after that you'll be using the Royal Authority chain for DPS.

As every skill does increase enmity if the "shield Oath" (Iron Will, yes it would be Shield Oath for a looong time for me XD) is on, you can say all the combos are enmity combos :D

PLD was my first tank. Then I was a DRK for the longest time. Then I went WAR for May and this month. These changes are just absolutely the best, I want to be a PLD again myself. PLD impressed me the most with its changes compared to our other current tanks. It might even be impressing me more than our new job, Gunbreaker. The way I think I'm going to see tanks in Shadowbringers: PLD > GNB > WAR > DRK Currently: WAR > DRK > PLD Sorry DRK Q.Q

Question, u get 5 shield gauge whenever u block an attack, and shelltron lasts 6 seconds and blocks EVERY attack u take. so if u had 5 mobs on you, you could technically block every single attack for the entire pull cause they will hit u 10 times in those 6 seconds which will give you 50 shield gauge.

PLD does feel super good now. I had left it behind in favor of DRK and some other non-tank jobs, DRK even got changed this expansion to be much more fun and fluid to play, and then I hopped on PLD and it was even moreso!

@@justinsane3507 HS base potency actually gets nerfed, tentatively, from 380 to 350, however Req will be a 50% increase to damage instead of it's current 20%, so it's a buff to 525, from its current effective 456, in disguise. However that actually makes confiteor effectively 1200 potency, the same as a buffed Midare from a SAM will be. So much for war having the highest potency single attack lmao

IIRC Rage upgrades into Authority via a trait, so I guess you'll still see it in low level content? But I agree, the animation was really cool, though so is Authority's.

Rage of halone will still be there, but only at low level content (up to level 59). At level 60 or above, it automatically upgrades to royal authority.

if I am to be honest - a lot of the changes look really, really good - seems like the jobs finally got the refinement that SE has been trying to find for the most part - healers changes I will agree that they look ... odd for now - I say wait until the content comes out and than make the call on if its good or bad - because we can theory craft all we want - but until we see it in effect and see what they have planned for us - we wont see if those changes make sense - otherwise I find that the changes they made are a very appealing thing - looks like a lot of it is much more fluid and graspable - where as the current tank stance dancing for extra dps - can frankly drive people to be intimidated with it right off the bat - and making them less than likely to even try - healers have a sort of similar situation - but until raid stuff it is fairly significantly less pronounced from tanks - or so it seems to me.

If it got a reduced cool down in exchange, that could be big. There are fights like O12S and O7S where the limiting factor to how some damage was mitigated was Cover cool down on PLD

It appears that way at first glance, but a lot of the potency buffs are there to make up for the lack of sword oath auto attack damage, so it'll be relatively even
