Ranger. So many cool concepts and ideas, and I dont think the card does it justice, reducing it to the Ranger thay has an animal buddy. Rangers that are outright defenders of the wild, in a very White-Green Paladin way; individualistic loners who find freedom in the wilds, like the Hunters in Destiny; or simple wanderers driven by a never satisfied curiosity for exploration.

Personally, a lawful neutral Paladin in Orzhov would be a cool idea. They'd still be loyal to their oath, but would also have their own needs and ambitions in mind as well. Along with how to protect and dish out justice, even if some people may not be too happy with how you do it.

Let me paint you a picture of a white/blue paladin! This is a character who takes an oath to protect while also honing and perfecting their skills for the battles to come. These are the paladins who follow the Oath of the Watchers. They guard against threats that come from beyond the mortal coil, such as demons and other kinds of outsiders. However, to do this, they don't just rush in with swords swinging. These forces are cunning, clever, and underhanded. Thus the Watcher Paladin must sometimes use such tactics in order to weed them out and destroy them, having networks of spies or early warning systems to catch these beings before they can get a foothold. Now of course I'm sure some of these paladins can go most of their lives without seeing any serious extraplanar threats, but they still train and perfect their skills, for to not and to show weakness would be allowing these things to slip through.

Despite me thinking white is the most logical color for a Paladin, I think black is a strong contender, thats almost an equal. A Paldin did not need to break his oath to have black as a white replacement. Black gaining the center of the Paladin and it's oath is changing the reason behind hits oath. Black is the color of ambition, while white is the color of order (for the Paladin that is). The Paldin swears his oath, because he knows it's necessary to become stronger and further his own goals. He doesn't serve to further society rather than to further himself. Black isn't dumb and as shown by Liliana, it uses oath or contracts on a regular basis. So swearing an oath, that aligns with his own agenda isn't at odds. Therefor you can have a black Paladin, that hasn't broken an oath.
@DiceTry

That's a cool perspective I like it. I did briefly mention that the breaking of the oath isn't required but I didn't think of it in the way of taking an oath to better ones self.

I don't think the Paladins oath should be looked at that way. It should be looked at as they're personal moral code or only a side of it, in witch case always add more tenets to your characters oath. As an example there are many people who believe in peace between all people yet not everybody will share the same perspective or view on it. It's also important to descuse one of the Paladins main stats, witch is charisma, witch represents many things amongst of witch willpower is one of them. That indicates that a Paladins power comes from it's own personal ambitions and those ambitions are said Paladins oath. So yes I do agree that black is a very appropriate colour but I disagree on a paladin breaking they're oath. If a Paladin abandons they're oath then they've abandoned they're ambition.

To add on the idea of an Orzhov Paladin, I think the Oath of Conquest fits quite well! A ruthless pursuit of order and what one believes to be, if not the ideal way, then the necessary way. I kind of “We don’t live in an ideal world. It’s full of horror and tragedy. In order to protect and safeguard what we hold dear, what is best for us, we need to be willing to make the difficult decisions when necessary, even if it means being ruthless.” A far more pragmatic outlook on Peace & Order. A Dark Knight, so to speak. Dirtying one’s hands so that others don’t have to.

I'm playing a Hexblade Warlock (Black) who is about to become a Paladin (Oath of the Ancients. White/Green). His Tribe is Naya (Red/Green/White) I think my character is Green - with undertone levels of Black & White. I'm having a hard time pinpointing what colours he reflects right now, I know he will become Abzan (Black/Green/White) However, I think it's because through his story arcs (Even tho he is a warlock not by choice) Green is guiding him, resisting from black, while White/Green is clashing with Black. A battle of his tribe beliefs vs Warlock pact. Granted I made this character before I knew about the colour pie. However, in the confusion the colour pie has made it some much easier understanding the whole picture so thank you!

I think there is some interesting potential in the green/white paladin. Such as what would their feelings be towards the green villain you made in a different video? I’m sure that seeing a being so intrinsically tied to nature committing such horrible acts would give a paladin who has sworn an oath to protect nature a lot to think about.

Thank you!! And thank you for giving oath of an ancient paladin! My naya paladin Cornelius Blade is the ultimate embodiment of that which is good, he is a king of a kingdom who values, life, creativity, art, and love. And he has his throne in the center of the city, in the biggest bar in town for everyone to revel and be together on equal ground. knowing their king is just as likely to help replace granny Mary's roof shingles with his own hands after a tough storm as well as to protect them from the armies of the abyss. Don't mind me, just leaving myself a writer's note as to why I saved this in the particular playlist. Climbers, or certain Dreamwalkers, fit the idea of holding an oath and receiving power from it. Wilders work too, especially the more zealous ones like D'Goshri. TL/AR would be cool as a paladin "multiclass" character.

I right now play a white/red Half Orc paladin named Hesediel with a bit of a different twist. While his view is colored by past trauma, it's less a view of the world, as he still sees the beauty inherent in the world and in life(ancients oath), his trauma colored how he viewed himself, as he was abandoned by his mother at birth, and then during his training lost a close friend who sacrificed himself to save Hesediel's life. As such, Hesediel for the longest time felt unworthy of his own life, unworthy of this greater person giving their life for him, feeling like he had a debt that had to be paid in dying for another person or in service of some greater cause, an unconscious death wish that he's working through with his party, who have become his very close personal friends. He's the most emotionally complex character I've ever played and easily my favorite.

Personally, I believe the Paladin is all colours. EDIT: To further elaborate, to me the Paladin is a individual who is zealously devoted to they're ambition or a cause and is that conviction and will that give's them their power. Now how moral (oaths of the redemption and ancients) or immoral (conquest and vengeance) is that ambition is up to the individual.

Batman DnD style - WU; Oath of Vengeance; A knight on the side of good clad in black and using the night as an ally to dispense justice. The devastating deaths of his parents at a young age made him vow to never allow that sort of thing happen to another as well as an oath to never go over the edge and kill someone outright. Training under a swordmaster Raz Al Guhl he honed his martial prowess and went to his home city to right the wrongs of both the past and present.

A character concept I've toyed around with (which would obviously require a good amount of collaboration with the GM) is an Oathbreaker who doesn't consciously abandon their oath. Think a paladin who whole-heartedly believes in their oath, but for one reason or another comes into conflict with their order and, through that conflict, betrays the order. Perhaps he believes that it's the order itself that has abandoned their oath and that he is the only true believer. Or he is sent to a village to cleanse it of evil, only to come to the conclusion that there is no evil there, and ends up defending it from other members of the order who come later. Either way, he's an Oathbreaker in a sense, but firmly believes he hasn't truly broken his oath at all. Also, that second scenario could make for some incredible roleplaying moments, especially given the complex emotions involved.

The paladin I've played and had the most fun with was a character I simply named "Ask". His origins were unique in that in his original life he was cursed so that if he came back to life, he'd come back into a weaker form every time. After an act of cruelty towards simple goblins with his limited mindset when he had been reincarnated into the form of a lizardfolk, it scarred his psyche with guilt. Guilt that would last into his next reincarnation as a human, who would become a paladin early in life. He desired simply to be a hero and save others from unjust pain, but he wouldn't remain a paladin for long. In fact it would be further acts of cruelty within his order that would prevent him from taking his oath entirely, instead multiclassing into a wizard. Thanks to not swearing in though, he ended up a much more free agent than most other paladins. Using his natural gluttony for knowledge, self-improvement, and justice to right wrongs set eons before he was born. I always pictured him as a bit of a white/red/blue mix, which is funny because he ended up becoming the "King of All Fiends" after quite literally consuming the power of the previous 7 fiend kings. Oh ya, I never mentioned what his original incarnation was did I? He originally was the Tarrasque. Old coot that cursed him never took into account his new incarnations becoming smarter as well as weaker. XD

I love the idea of a paladin who sees the logical way of improving the world but it’s one that will cost them. Perhaps a paladin that was raised by the mafia that turned away from that life but now the mafia is coming after members of your order. I also like the idea of three coloured paladins. Like a paladin who beats people down because it’s what they are allowed to do but in reality they’re just doing it for their own interests/hatred

I'm currently part of a Ravnica campaign where I'm playing a White Dragonborn Paladin/Barb, whose was once a urchin but is now an enforcer for Orzhov. Initially played as a blunt instrument of the Orzhov w. dreams of wealth and power(black), 2 Coins has been more closely aligned to white as he's always longed to be part of a family he's never had growing up. Whether that family is found in Orzhov or his current adventuring party only time will tell.

Dont sleep on Blue as a paladin... all you need to do is look at the guilds and shards. Blue is logical and based in control. Im looking at You, Azorius. You are not a mere champion, you are order, you are the one that brings these ambitious mages and rogues to heel. Whether it be somthing like the Oath of Crown, or Oath of Watchers. You protect your party by denying your oponent the ability to do harm, rather that simply step in front of your allies. You banish fell beasts, curse your foes abilities, even counterspell the wizard outright. Both magic, and society have laws. You are their enforcer. Bant takes a similar vein, but adds in a bit more temperance and practicality with Green as discussed in the WG section

This video makes me very excited for, and I know it's gonna sound weird, New Cappena. Why? Because of the Brokers, the Bant lawyers crime family. It was said in the worldbuilding stream that before New Cappena became what it is, those who would eventually become the Brokers were the Paladins of the world, and they evolved into a dark version of themselves by caring more about law and the contracts and vow rather than the good they were doing, and their central color is white. So this makes me excited to see more controlling, tempo, lawyery and even staxy, white representation via a mafia of lawyers who used to be Paladins. We all know one of the best things about color faction sets is the flavourful art, seeing the colors in a light that we maybe don't always see, like Boros getting historian and scholar vibes with Lorehold. Great as always, keep up man!

Red/Black Paladin : Oath of Friendship This paladin grew up in a small remote village where they formed a close bond with the other kids their age. When disaster strikes the village (dm's choice) they and only some of their their friends (the rest of the party) escape. They swear to keep what remains of their loved ones alive and together, and as they grow into adulthood, their dedication to be the leader and protector that holds the party together has given them power to perform that task better. Red for the emotion and intensity they feel towards their friends and mission. Black for the willingness to go against anything, even death or taboos, to achieve their oath. On a good day they are a dependable leader who puts the party first and lets their friends know how much they care about them. On a bad day they'll consider manipulation and gaslighting if it means the group stays whole.

I feel that an Orzhov conquest paladin would be very interesting, especially placed in the conquest that they believe that they are whats best for their society, even as their totalitarianism crushes the hearts of those around them. Its even better if their methods are genuinely effective at keeping their people safe as you have to question whether safety is worth the utter lack of freedom their people are aloud.

While I agree that the concept of an oath is typically associated with White, I'd argue that it isn't exclusive to White. I think it's entirely possible to make a mono-coloured paladin in any colour, or to make a paladin in any combination of colours, depending on which oath the paladin takes. Mono-white could easily be a redemption paladin. Mono-blue could be a watchers paladin. Mono-black could be a conquest paladin. Mono-red could be a glory paladin. Mono-green could be an ancients paladin. A lot of the oaths are flexible in which colours they could fit into, and it's not impossible to have a devotion paladin that's WUBRG.

I'm currently playing a paladin who I would currently describe as Red+X. I say '+X' because she is very much in the early stages of her journey and still discovering herself. While her primary color is red, the ideal that she aspires to would align with Green+White, so that is how she is currently acting. However, she is also contending with some other factors that introduce Black into the mix, so there ends up being a dichotomy of which path(s) she may walk down. All in all, having a blast and looking forward to seeing how her story unfolds.

I have 2 ideas: 1: Eldritch Paladin (Patron saint is Cthulhu) 2: A paladin who’s oath is an Oath of Protection. He weilds a massive shield in his *right* hand, to better block incoming attacks and a polearm in his left. The shield in his *right* symbolising his desire to protect those who cannot protect themselves and the polearm being a balance of raw offensive power and defensive aptitude. I want to write some sappy trauma story of “he watched his wife and children die in a raid while he was away doing crusader things and now has sworn himself never to let anyone else feel that pain if he can help it.” I also want this paladin to be built like a wall and be a great therapist. That’s a bit complicated though. For colours and alignment, Lawful Good and Dark Grey and Orange. The orange here being a twist on the red for vengeance. His quest is not for vengeance, his quest is to make vengeance unnecessary. The dark grey is to make a more scarred character, his morals are still strong but he has been touched by darkness and the desire to get his own back

I'm new to the channel, and MTG overall, but I AM a D&D nerd and have always appreciated the talented artists which bring MTG to life -- and I am curious where my current Paladin, who's become one of my favorite characters to play, would fall into the Color Pie. His name is Garm, for he is a werewolf (has been since birth) who tempers his bestial instincts with a strict code of conduct, instilled in him by the holy order (of monster hunters) that raised him. Rarely does he pass judgment on others, instead hunting those things that go bump in the night, preying upon humanity -- a monster, as he views himself, that hunts monsters. It's only recently, through his experiences with his party, that he has begun making peace with himself.

But I choise conquest and glory because they may act upon justice to those who deserve it, but also to discover themselves and the world around them. I’m really tempted now to combine an oathbreaker paladin with a benevolent outlook, likely CG or CN if you were going to plot them on D&D’s alignment axis. MtG has never been my game, so my understanding of the color wheel comes pretty exclusively from your videos, but I believe what I’m thinking is probably in the red (maybe red-black) realm. Our paladin starts their career as something similar to a vengeance paladin, part of a holy order dedicated to stamping out those they view as evil by any means necessary, the sort of organization that is morally grey (at best) if they are right about the nature of those they’re hunting and downright morally bankrupt if they aren’t. Off the top of my head, maybe make them a mage hunter, dedicated to purging arcane magic from the world. This character starts as a true believer in this cause. Maybe they have some tragedy-based backstory that leads them to hate mages; dead parents or (preferably) something a bit less clichéd, or maybe they just grew up in a society and absorbed some of its bigotry. In time, they come to learn that arcanists are not inherently good, but certainly not the inherently evil beings the paladin once believed them to be. They reject their order and vow, smashing their badge of office and wearing the shattered thing as their new holy symbol. Going forward, they live in opposition to the order they once claimed but refuse to swear any oath, as the oaths that bind can easily be corrupted and turned to evil. Spurning such a sacred oath leaves a mark on a person’s soul that doesn’t easily wash clean, and they burn with a smoldering rage that, while generally contained, sometimes bursts forth in terrifying ways (the oathbreaker abilities kind-of necessitate some sort of dark side). One can come to reject an oath from any direction, but it’s passion and pride that are the primary driving force for this character, hence the red. There’s benevolence present, but it’s secondary to the emotions that are turning the wheel. I see the character borrowing a bit from the conquest paladin; they don’t seek to impose their will as a primary motivation, but when they are moved to fight, they grind their opponent to dust through any means necessary. If I’m wrong in the color read of this concept, I’d love to be corrected. I tend to leave the alignment column of my character sheets blank, as I find D&D’s alignment axis is borderline useless for me. Your color pie system intrigues me, as it provides some nuance that the alignment system currently lacks.

I know this is a little late in replying, but hopefully this sparks your interest. I once built a world where the primary cleric order was Very similar to the Orzhov on Ravnica, and with that the paladins and clerics were "paladins of prosperity." They fully embraced the capitalistic side of black, but actually tried to use white to make that enrichment and prosperity apply to all...at least the good ones did. In opposition to ravnican Orzhov saying "lets take white mana's unwavering commitment to protection and apply it to only a subset of the population, and leave those who are not with us in the dirt to be exploited" the order said "lets take black's focus on enrichment of the self to it's logical conclusion, in that an enriched community enriches the individual." I loved the complexity of that character as the church had the full gambit of good to evil. Good church of prosperity members were truly altruistic for personal gain. They invested in adventurers where they saw promise, and gave them the best chance to succeed...for a cut of the profit when they did so they could invest in others that they thought had what it took. The neutral members of the church were nepotistic. They enriched their own and pulled favors for themselves. They would give good financial advice at a fair price for themselves, and if you couldn't pay the price....tough. They needed to guard their current investments first and foremost. The evil members of the church were straight con artists. Riding on the good graces of other members of the church these would enrich themselves with the assumption that they would return the altruism "when they had enough wealth" which conveniently never happened. This video reminds me heavily of that character and how much fun I had playing them. I hope this sparks some inspiration!

A paladin I’ve played was a Tiefling from an order reminiscent of Boros, as such, I’d always seen him as that, until events in the story shifted him from an Oath of Glory, to that of Vengeance, as such, I believe this newfound motivation, as well as his tendency to receive more injuries than needed leave him with the alignment of Mardu, with the white being his loyalty to his oath, order and companions, the red being his desire to push himself to greater heights as well as his innate fire magic, while black represents his disregard for his own safety and self image in his pursuit of justice

I'm surprised you didn't so much as mention red in your section on the oathbreaker paladin. Especially since you described them as at least partially breaking their oath out of empathy for the people they had killed for their ideals, which is in my opinion just about the most quintessentially red thing possible.

I would say my current Paladins... if I was to apply the color wheel The newest is for a level 20 One-shot (A variation on a legacy Pally of mine.). She is primarily white mana; with a strong belief in peace, order, and justice, but she has streaks of Red and Blue in the mix. Her red streak is an appreciation of the unique independence of individuals, Her blue streak is logic, she understands that as much as she believes in them, they are ultimately flawed systems built by flawed creations; she takes a thoughtful approach to the strictness of law and the interplay between good and order. She is not one who sees them as the same thing. Order does not just lead to Light, and Light does not only lead to order. My Next Paladin is Black/Red. She is an oath breaker who has lost faith in the "light" or at least what she has been told is the light. She served a king who was far from the paragon of humanity she had been raised to believe but a vile, womanizing tyrant; who crossed her line when he ordered her to slay his wife and child; she refused and in her scuffle to protect them she killed her king, breaking her oath of the crown My Final Paladin is White/Blue. She has lived a hard, cruel life, and has a disillusioned view of "noble causes", but despite that she firmly believes in goodness and kindness. She puts herself first, but has evolved that selfishness past the gluttonous view of more base individuals. The thing she lusts and hungers for isnt riches so much as it is a family and that ideal world, but while other Pallies will go off valiantly chasing it, she is far more pragmatic. Trying to affect structural change, and doing good on a community level.

I have an oath of Redemption, Red White Paladin. He is a lizard folk who has gone through so much mistakes in his own life he dedicated the rest to redeem others like himself. The colors align through his struggle of protection and order and The concept of freedom. In most cases Red makes white prominent but in this case he clashes with himself to whether do something for the greater good or allow those around him to fail. In his perfect world the only payment of suffering would be his own and those who are willing to carry the load. He would be devastated to force innocent people to go along his cause and suffer as he does. When he redeems someone he doesn't convert them to his way of thinking but instead guide them to their own passions.

Make a Green Blue Paladin, very fun. Removing white makes you a weird Paladin but I have had fun with a Paladin that did not fail their god but rather a god that failed their champions. Granted the god was basically imprisoned it matters not, the damage was done and we have an atheistic faith. A faith that knew anyone born could become a god. Very fun story, if you want a new faith try running it.

I will say right now that being an Oathbreaker Paladin doesn't always mean being evil. an Oathbreaker who had an Oath of Vengeance or an Oath of Conquest may have a crisis of conscience and break their oath as a means of stopping a bloody rampage, once thought to be a righteous crusade. Oathbreakers are more individualistic than regular paladins, so Black as a color still makes sense, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the oathbreaker is an evil person. sure you might say that a truly good oathbreaker who had a crisis of conscience would change their oath to the Oath of Redemption, but that's where the Black comes in again. sometimes to do good, you can't be bound to rules, and you must do things that those who shared your oath would deem evil, heretical or soft. an Oath of Conquest oathbreaker uses his oathbreaker powers to join the resistance to the armies he once helped lead, bringing their dark magics to give those slain by the Conquering army a means of getting vengeance against their killers. an Oath of Vengeance Oathbreaker uses the Dark influence Oathbreakers get over the undead to instead of purging a village of undead, simply takes command of the undead and sends them to a place where they can be safely killed. sometimes, dark means are needed to do the most good possible

I think an idea for white/black would be a paladin that strays from the main path doing horrible things in the name of what they initially believed in: no longer the methods matter that much when it yields great results. Again, there's no black's signature selfishness but the element of defilement and rebellion against order is still there - even if its end goal is restoring or maintaining said order.

Your Oathbreaker Paladin seems like a Black character without White. But what about a genuine White-Black Paladin. A Paladin who swears himself to protect or further the goals of a certain group, organization or individual and who otherwise has little care for those that stand in the way. Also, wasn't there some kind of Paladin of Tyranny sub-class as well?

Currently my paladin is taking in oath to return to his lost kingdom and take up becoming a king, yes the idea is an Arthurian inspiration. And white matches them as the see they have to rule for the the sake of his family and people and believe in his ideal of peace and justice for all. He can also be Red in the sense that he feels that he has to act and help regardless of his own safety or if his ideal is foolish by others. And green in the sense that he feels he's destined on a set path that he wants to make into a reality for all the lives he wants to protect. I think he can have a little black in the sense of trying to obtain his power but at the same time he kinda represses his selfishness and pride in order to fit his dream of the perfect king.

I once had a paladin that I would classify as a White/Blue paladin. My dm allowed me to take and Oath of Knowledge, and he was devoted to bringing education and enlightenment to all, as well as striking down those that oppressed learning and smothered the potential of the populace. This even went as far as safeguarding tomes of evil, preserving necromancies and demotic texts so that others could learn from them, but also learn the folly of them. This actually led to a fun part of the campaign where my paladin accidentally groomed a novice necromancer by allowing her access to these tomes. He was a really fun and interesting character to play.

In Pathfinder 2E, if you are a Chaotic Good Champion (What they call the Paladin) then you have to swear to liberate the oppressed everywhere. So in a way, it's another version of the White Red Paladin. The Red stands for rebellion, revolution, and chaos.

My most typical build in 5th edition is to take 10 levels of bard and then take rogue levels after that if the game runs past level 10. Sometimes I play other things, but its uncommon for me to do so since I really enjoy the bard class, and to a lesser extent, rogue. Has bard been done, yet?

I don't really like the way oaths are portrayed in dnd right now. I like to consider them more as the character's highest ideals rather than rules for how to play your character, and honestly the inclusion of deities into the paladin seems forced and heavy-handed. In my opinion, paladins shouldn't be inherently religious or inherently lawful. Rather, paladins should gain power from their emotional connection to their ideals, similar to how bards gain their magic

I think if I were a paladin, I'd take the oath of treachery, which focuses on self-interests. I feel that concepts like love, compassion, justice, honor, and morality can, and historically have, been twisted by manipulative and hateful people. So, as a paladin of treachery, my history is that I once took an oath to preserve justice and defend the innocent. That was until someone manipulated me into oppressing and killing innocent people. My character would be a mercenary who masquerades as a selfless hero. I still do whatever good I can, but only when and to whom I see fit. I'd be no longer bound by an oath. Essentially, my colors will be black and white.

I think we could have an Oathbreaker Paladin character that's primarily Black and later gains White. For example, I'll use a franchise near and dear to my heart: Star Wars. Say, for example, you're a member of the Galactic Empire. You could be a Stormtrooper, a Navy officer, or even one of the Jedi-hunting Inquisitors. You swear your life to the Empire and are wholly fanatical in your thought process. At least at first. Then you slowly realize the truth. You're not the defender of peace and justice. You're the tyrant ruling through fear and brutality. This isn't what you signed up for. You signed up to _protect_ the citizenry, not oppress them. Thus, you break your oath. Maybe you join the Rebellion, maybe you strike out on your own campaign. But you still turn against the Empire, in the name of morality. And thus, a Black/White Oathbreaker.

Hm... If I were to give colors to my paladins (and I apologize for the wall of text but I swear these are only my best and paring it down to just 3 was already painful)... Spite, Avenger of the Marginalized: Mardu (red, white, black) centered in white, but feeling them all pretty intensely. A tiefling born to a human mother, life has seldom been kind to either of them. Her father absent, her mother shunned for having her, and barely enough gold to get by colored her view of the world quite darkly from the start. That was nothing, however, compared to seeing her mother killed before her eyes when she was only 13, protecting her from a drunkard with "religious ideals." After some time moving from town to town, city to city, she met a knight who took her on as a squire after hearing her tale of survival. She chose her virtue name (one of my favorite tiefling lore elements) to reflect her disillusionment with the world that could be so cruel to the woman who could have given her up as a baby and had a normal life, but instead gave everything she had to do right by her daughter. Champion of those faced with irrational hatred for who or what they are, she travels in search of any way she can find to help those who are rendered powerless by the world in which they live. Cirania Starchaser, the Redeemer: Bant (green, white, blue) heavier on the white and green than blue. A high elf born to a prominent noble family in the generation since the fall of her people's brutal empire, raised to believe other races were lesser beings. Things changed when she was shipwrecked far from home and taken in by a human family of devotees to the twin gods of light and redemption after spending months on the streets. Over the next few years she became part of their family as they taught her both of what her people had done and of the tenants of their gods, so different from those of her old home. She now seeks to learn all she can about what her people did, to right at least a few of their wrongs, and to one day return home to do all she can to lead her generation down a better path. Magnificence, Chronicler of Valor: Boros (red & white) with perhaps just a touch of green starting to creep in. Both a paladin of the Oath of Glory and a bard of the College of Valor, choosing her virtue name for the ideals of both, Mags is obsessed with the deeds and ideals of great heroes and of heroism in general. She travels the world seeking both new tales of valor to tell and opportunities to make a few of her own. One of her core personal tenants is that all should be afforded the opportunity and encouragement to seek out their own greatness, wherever and in whatever form it may be found. She knows that a life of adventure and battle is by no means for everyone, but rather she believes greatness may be achieved in anything, be it the slaying of monsters, the good tending of one's fields, or the overcoming of great personal strife. It is only a matter of how circumstances have played out to either awaken or suppress that inner glory, and of what may be done to improve them.

My take on a Blue/White Devotion Paladin. This character strives towards the ideal of a perfect and just society. Their every action is one that they believe moves them towards that goal, while also being judged by the standards of what a perfect society would be. This character is highly philosophical and ascetic. They refuse to allow themselves to falter on their path towards perfection, they never lie, never cheat, and never do onto others what they would not want done to them. They also have a strong political angle regarding what they consider a "perfect society" to be, whether it be democratic, communistic, or even totalitarian, leading to some interesting roleplay potential. In a perfect society, citizens would be allowed to speak their mind, so this paladin tries to win over people through words and rhetoric rather than force. Got a bit of a Disco Elysium vibe to it.

This video kinda ilustrates why Paladin is easily my least favourite class.. It's very hard to break away from it's core concept, making the class somewhat predictable no matter wich way to build it, even if trying to avoid the classic pitfalls. Really missed a White/Green Blue paladin, someone who follows a forgotten deity and is trying their best to uncover the most they can about this deity for both themselves and the world
