My father was a government contract worker in Palau, I went to live with him in 1969 and 1970, at age 50 he married an 18 year old Palauan girl, so I have a half brother and and sister from that marriage, her family is considered high clan or royalty in Palau. In 69 an 70, most people only spoke Palauan, there were only 2 classes at the elementary school I went to that were taught in english. There were still a lot of relics of WWll and the Japanese all over the Island. There was only dirt runway at the airport, no airport terminal. The only paved road was in downtown Koror. The Island was very much a paradise. I hope to visit again in the near future.

Palau, I admire the way people of Palau are keeping the country. The place is so clean, you will not see rubbish anywhere. The roads are just perfect, and there are no potholes like how they are in Fiji. People are so nice, it's so safe. Spectacular country, wonderful people. A smooth blend of Micronesian, Asian, and American influences. Unique art (storyboard carvings). A long way from the Americas and Europe, but worth the trip. Fly via Guam and spend a couple of days there also.
