Thank you for this video! Your explanation of how to hit and why, and the purpose of the 3 stones was so to the point. I have attended a day long class on flint knapping and could not get the hang of it. I gave up on trying thinking that it was my fault. Now I believe I could have another go at it. I would like to make an atlatl point.

I really like these longer videos explaining the basics coupled with the shorts. Showing where you start and where you CAN end up with enough practice. Knapping is something I've been interested in for a while I've been blacksmithing on and off for a year I think knapping would be cool to get into in-between. Thanks man! 28 yo male from Tennessee.

Donny, first off, still a big fan. Just used your video on what to look for in rocks to know if they're good for flintknappong. Didn't find any good stones to Knap but found good hammer stones. I cant seem to find anything good to knap in the cariboo chilcotin region of BC, (just incase you've been here and have any advice) could you do a video on glass?

Donny… I can’t find any stone where I live. I’ve gone to the river, in different spots, and I’ve gone to where I find flakes and all I can find are baseball or grapefruit size rock and when I hit the stones it is taking out huge chunks but not flakes. I’ve watched every video on it and I still suck.

Whats the difference between a hammerstone and a billet?
@DonnyDustsPaleoTracks

Hammer stones are out of rock or cobblestone. Billets are typically antlers, some bone and wood.
