@@Anp562 In the late 1940's and early 1950's there were tensions between the Jewish community and the rest of the Iraqi people, probably because many Jews were suspected as Zionists. Meny left where they could. However, I believe that if the state of Israel was not created and the known atrocities didn't took place, his family would have stayed there. Today Iraqi Jews count no more than several thousands, and their number remained the same for 70+ years

Yes! Nazism was the end result of the anti-Semitism that started in Europe centuries ago. If the Jewish people hated the Europeans then it would be understandable, but No! The Jewish people appear to hate the Arabic people instead!☮

Very informative talk 🙏. I grew up in Morocco. The 3 religions were, and still are, living in harmony. It is interesting for me to hear that it was the same in Iraq. Many Moroccan Jews who were enticed to emigrate to Israel ended up very disappointed and segregated against. A significant number moved back to Morocco. My fundamentalist catholic father was a very fervent Zionist, and the dynamic and rethoric of Israel is very familiar to me despite the fact that I never went to Israel... Jews were persecuted and discriminated against in Europe at that time when nationalist European ideologies were emerging. Jewish people were very aggressively excluded from these nationalisms. Therefore the people around Herzl (the Zionists) developed the ideology of their own Jewish nation. However, the nation state was missing. That's why they wanted to found it in Palestine. No, they didn't think much about the Palestinians. They were a persecuted minority in Europe. But apart from that, they were Europeans and the normal racist view that Europeans of that time had of the rest of the world was also theirs. Incidentally, this European view has not fundamentally changed since then. Well, maybe with young people. The sheer barbarity of the Holocaust left Europeans around the world with a guilty conscience after World War II. Suddenly they wanted to see the Jews as their equals and wanted to fulfill them a wish. The fact that the Europeans themselves didn't have to give up anything to fulfill this wish made it even easier. And again they didn’t think much about Palestinians or Arabs. Regardless of their religion, Arabs simply did not play a role in these considerations; they were not important. As I already said, normal European racism.

If it’s the latter, then from my understanding, it’s because they know that if they assist Israel in clearing Gaza of Palestinians, it’s all over for them to ever go back and have their homeland. And each country does already have hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees because of all the other Israeli atrocities over the past two decades. So it seems a tough position to be in - keep them in Gaza and have so many killed? Or get them all out only for the whole population to lose their home? Neither is a good choice, but I suppose less killing is better. But where will Israel turn next to steal more land? West Bank? As if they haven’t stolen enough of that already? 😢

Go to Google News and look up: Trucknet Enterprise. Read the Dec 27 article in Times of Israel. This Israeli company is working with five Arab states to create a land bridge so that Israel continues to get goods despite the Houthi blockade.

Then, as a follow up, taken note that a few days there was a story from India about how trade unions in India are refusing to load weapons on container ships destined to Israel. Well, given the Houthi blockade, then how is it possible for any ship to get its cargo to Israel? Through the Arab land bridge. That means these five Arabs states have not only been undermining Houthi economic pressure to force Israel into a ceasefire, but they’ve also been facilitating the continued flow of weapons (and domestic goods), by way of their land bridge.

I have Iraqi friends whose parents commiserate about the lost relationships with Jewish Iraqi friends. I have heard these commiserations for 40 years. On the other hand, Canadian Jewish people I knew of Ashkenazi heritage referred to my hairdresser as a dirty *** as he was from Morocco. I questioned this position. The superiority/inferiority paradigm was clearly a normalized belief.

Absolutely, this gentleman is a breath of fresh air. I really like listening to it because I love the history of religions and their chronology, anthropology etc... It's very instructive and enriching for anyone who wants to free themselves from clichés and idiocies. Moreover it was the British government which administered Iraq at the time, which decided to establish a Hashemite kingdom in Iraq and Faisal became king of Iraq in 1921 before dying in 1933 You have to see the traitorous Sykes and Picot (the destruction of the Ottoman Empire). His grandson Faisal II was deposed and assassinated during General Kassem's coup d'état on July 14, 1958. Churchill boasted of having created Jordan with a pencil one afternoon in Cairo. In fact, it is especially Great Britain which is at the origin of all the region's ills. The English were deeply racist and the USA much more anti-Semitic than the Germans before 1945. It was Freud who wrote this in his analysis of Wilson, and co-written with one of the latter's right-hand men. Before the 19th century, the term "anti-Semite" did not exist, it was anti-Judaism. And I believe that Zi****ism represents a danger for Judaism...

@@Miki-fl9ez Not really accurate, because semites encompass all those who descend of the peoples originated in the region that today encompasses Palestine, Jordan as well as parts of Lebanon and Syria, regardless of religion, and, according to most historians, a great number of jews (mainly those of European origin and their descendants, which make up the majority of Israelis, btw) are very likely NOT semite, which not only makes the choice to broadly apply the term exclusively to jews (to the exclusion and erasure of arabs) technically wrong, but also a clearly VERY intentional political one.

For those believing in land promised to God’s people: This is from Dr Naomi Wolf Dated July 25, 2014 Okay, so I was challenged below. “Read the Bible! God gave the land of Israel to the Jewish people.” So… I may get crucified for this but I have started to say it -most recently (terrified, trembling) to warm welcome in a synagogue in LA: Actually if you could read Genesis Exodus and Deuteronomy in Hebrew - as I do - you will see that God did not “give” Israel to the Jews/Israelites. We as Jews are raised with the creed that “God gave us the land of Israel” in Genesis - and that ethnically “we are the chosen people.” But actually - and I could not believe my eyes when I saw this, I checked my reading with major scholars and they confirmed it - actually God’s “covenant” in Genesis Exodus and Deuteronomy with the Jewish people is NOT ABOUT AN ETHNICITY AND NOT ABOUT A CONTRACT. IT IS ABOUT A WAY OF BEHAVING. Again and again in the “covenant” language He never says “I will give you, ethnic Israelites, the land of Israel.” Rather He says something far more radical - far more subversive - far more Godlike in my view. He says: IF you visit those imprisoned…act mercifully to the widow and the orphan… welcome the stranger in your midst…tend the sick…do justice and love mercy…and perform various other tasks…THEN YOU WILL BE MY PEOPLE AND THIS LAND WILL BE YOUR LAND. So “my people” is not ethnic - it is transactional. We are God’s people not by birth but by a way of behaving, that is ethical, kind and just. And we stop being “God’s people“ when we are not ethical, kind and just. And ANYONE who is ethical, kind and just is, according to God in Genesis, “God’s people.” And the “contract” to “give” us Israel is conditional - we can live in God’s land if we are “God’s people” in this way - just, merciful and compassionate. AND - it never ever says, it is ONLY your land. Even when all passages spell out geographical “boundaries” as if God does such a thing, it never says this is exclusively your land. It never says I will give this land JUST to you. Remember these were homeless nomads who had left slavery in Egypt and were wandering around in the desert; at most these passages say, settle here, but they do not say, settle here exclusively. Indeed again and again it talks about welcoming “zarim” - translated as “strangers” but can also be translated as “people/tribes who are not you” - in your midst. Blew my mind, hope it blows yours.

The Zionist state is foreign in the region. Its human element has no geographical or historical connection to the environment that the Western rulers wanted to create after the two wars. These rulers used the massacres committed against the Jews to demand their right to the state. While the Jews lived in Palestine and were protected by Caliph Omar bin Al-Khattab. Currently, Jews all over the world denounce the racist policies pursued by the Zionist entity against Arabs of all races. Eastern European threat, they took over the Jewish religion in the 8th century
