It started in 636 at the battle of Yarmuk. Many nations have owned that land since then. No Palestinian has ever owned that land. The Ottomans (Turks) owned it until the end of the first world war, then the British and now Israel owns the land given to it by the UN in 1948. Palestine has never been a country and it still isn't.
