I’m from a western culture, an avowed atheist male and married to a Palestinian non practicing Muslim woman. We live in the west but travel to Palestine often to see family. Our children attend a secular school. My wife’s family have accepted me and respect our decision to raise our children in a secular manner. When the kids are with their maternal grandparents they attend the mosque with respect and interest. The kids are bilingual and are very comfortable in Palestinian society. We should all just get on with life because it’s way to short to waste on bullshit.

The reason is because in the religion Islam, muslims are obligated to be respectful of their partner's and others' opinions and views, to agree to disagree, and there is no compulsion in religion. So Muslim men can marry a Christian or Jewish woman, because they are required by islam to be respectful of their religion. The fear is that if a Muslim woman marries a non-Muslim man, the non-Muslim man may tire of his Muslim wife and start taking offence to or try to control the Muslim woman and force her to change her religion and also prevent her from raising the kids Muslim or teaching them about islam. Personally, I can respect someone honestly stating whether they would OR wouldn't marry a foreigner / someone of another religion.. after all that is THEIR OWN choice... Regarding one's Children, Of course you can have a preference in who/what you want your kids to marry. Ultimately your kids being TRULY HAPPY should be the most important hope as a parent.(aside from health) If your child grows up to be smart, morally grounded and TRULY HAPPY you have succeeded as a parent. Everything else is extra (money, type of career... etc.) REAL HAPPINESS is above ALL.

Well before watching the video I thought it might break the stereotypes and universal perceptions about Islamic societies. Well it didn't break stereotypes in a big way, since most women, even the young ones who were interviewed still said they wouldn't marry outside their religion, and that for them their religion is the most important . Though there were some, and it's worth appreciating👏👏👏. If women had the same opinion in the western countries, they would be labelled as intolerant, xenophobic, supremacist, racist, right wing extremely and what not!.

For my personal view: everyone can choose what they like. Israel has made an oasis out of the desert and Palestinians have done what exactly. Love how there are sharing their opinion and they're open about it and willing to share that with us. I respect their opinion. but I love how they said that Muslim women cannot marry a non-muslim because the man is a head of the house. But a Muslim man can marry a non-muslim woman because he can control her. This reminds me of the story that I read in the Bible of Solomon who marry a non believer. this caused him problem in his faith with God and he turned away from God. So even if a Muslim man marries a non-muslim woman he cannot control her. Because how the Proverbs says," we might throw the dice but God determines how they fall." I also remember the story of Esther who is a believer in God and she marries a non believer in God. God gave her favor. So again we see that a man is not always in control but God is the one in control.Amen! For the almighty God who controls everything.
