I just found all these great clips and I cant help but notice that Hugh seems to say Wilson in his American accent. Maybe I'm hearing it wrong but it was definitely something I picked up on when he first said it. Also, Robert is super cute in those glasses!

Ahhhh! I knew there was a connection between Holmes/Watson and House/Wilson (e.g House's apartment no. is 221B) but I never got that! Homes...House...wow! And I've just realised typing that WatSON and WilSON...wow. :]

I don’t however really think of Home when I think of name Holmes so House seems a bit too strong as name when it has another more ovious meaning that isn’t relevant to the character.
