Why is everyone hating on Elizabeth? They are not in front of the camera people. They have visions and come up with the ideas for the show. Those ideas are visualised by the actors because thats what their job is. I would say that 90% of the general public would act worse in front of a camera than Liz to be honest. Actors know how to not act awkward. Its their god damn job. So if you are compared to them, obviously you are THE awkward person. In my opinion, she did great on this

I feel like if they didn’t want to show off the chemistry between Jake and Zooey and develop the relationship between Jess and Nick then they shouldn’t have: - Made Jess be the one to help him move on from Caroline - Made Nick be the one tell the other guys that they needed to go back and cheer her up at the restaurant - Made Nick be the one to say “We like you, you’re our friend” - Made Nick be the one to fire her up enough to fight back and get her stuff back from Spencer - Made them pretend to be a couple at a wedding - Made them share several romantic moments ranging from joking to real at said wedding - Made an episode entirely focused on the possibility of a romantic relationship between them All in the span of the first five episodes. And that’s not even touching on the countless examples to come throughout the rest of the first season.

Agree. The first five episodes already have so many Nick’s close ups of lingering stares at Jess in comparison to close up of other guys’ eye contact with Jess.

Recently, the episode which featured the FIRST Nick and Jess kiss got really high ratings (number of viewers) in the key demo (2.6). Actually, the number of viewers went up a lot higher than previous episode (2.2). So if anything, Nick and Jess raise the ratings to a higher level. Also, fans truly love Nick and Jess together! I would say getting Nick and Jess officially together would bring in more viewers and give the show even more buzz and excitement. Fans are still buzzing about their kiss!

omg i always thought that there is a hidden chemistry between jess and nick but its not something the group talk about, especially in season 1 which is the time this interview was shot. i like it that way, i love the subtleness and built up of their love story. you just see them eventually getting close together, being partners in crime and they help each other out as friends. and i just love the fact only jess can make stubborn angry nick do something out of his comfort zone...even before he knew he likes her. gawd im obsessed bcos i just started watching it again. (i just wished the producers didn't give away that there will be a love story between jess and nick at the time this was filmed, it was too soon. its better if fans can see their chemistry by themselves and anticipate it)

Well they started dating at the end of season 2. So they'll obviously be a couple at the start of season 3. And we've never seen Nick doing any couple-y type stuff with his past girlfriends.So seeing him trying to be a great boyfriend to Jess by doing cute things with her will be awesome. The great thing about them being together now is that they don't have to worry about "too much chemistry". Jake and Zooey can essentially act naturally and have that natural chemistry show on screen.

And have faith in Liz and the writers to write another flawless season. But inevitably they're going to have to break up and date other people and we'll have to delve into Nick/Jess jealously. But we know one thing for sure: Nick & Jess are definitely end game. Are they ready to get married? Probably not. But they'll figure it out.

Chandler/Monica stayed together on Friends for 6 straight seasons. And the ratings never dropped. Friends was on for 10 years. Many shows have the main couples get together, and it doesn't hurt the ratings at all. I don't understand why ONLY ONE show, Moonlighting, is always put as a main example when MANY OTHER shows do wonderfully with the main couples together. On Bones, the two main characters are together. On Castle, too. And on Psych. Vampire Diaries. One Upon a Time. And the list goes on.

I disagree with your Friends-example. The Friends cast is totally different. The true protagonists were Ross and Rachel whose relationship was portrayed as a constant struggle. Jess is the main character here, and a relationship with Nick would lead to a very similar to Friends. Still, I prefer them getting together and ending the show after ~3 seasons than creating a story-mess like How I met your mother which feels artificially extended by the “plot twists”.
