Thank you for watching this Dragonlance Setting episode. What do you think about Palin Majere? Was he truly a talented Wizard on par with his uncle? Would he ever have discovered Sorcery in the Fifth Age if it weren't for the Shadow Sorcerer (Takhisis)? Leave a comment below!

The last bit of this video is incredibly insightful and why I watch your channel. You hit the nail on the head why this series reverberates so, the raw humanity of it. Thankyou for reminding me why Dragonlance is so special.

Just as the message of "Soul": what trully matters is life itself and the joy of living and feeling all the beautiful things that surround us. Great job!

I've spoken to recovered addicts. Chase the dragon. Wow. Raistlin really was the most legendary junky! 🤣 Keep up the great work!

That last part of the vid made me forget my initial comment. That really resonated with me and gave me goosebumps. Definitely makes me reflect and will persist. Beautifully said my friend!

I always hated the 5th Age sorcery stuff and Palin saying no to Solitari at the end of the War of Souls. But, his son Ulin the dragon mage and Sunrise the gold dragon always captivated me as a kid reading the Heroes of the Heart books.

That’s cool. Thank you for sharing your thought.

I got the impression Palin realized that his Uncle was afraid what happed to his mother, his own grandmother. Would happen to him if he didn't master magic. That it would consume and kill him. Conscious or not I think that's a true statement about Raistlin and his motivations. Also I believe Raistlin was at least a journeymen healer with herbs? Maybe master. He did work for years as an apprentice I remember. I might reread some books. 😃

I remembered the comment I was gonna make before your great message at the end of this vid turned me into a sentimental old fool. There are a ton of similarities between DL and Star Wars and Palin Majere is another example. He's like the Luke Skywalker of Dragonlance. His close relative (uncle for Palin, father for Luke) used "magic" to become ultra powerful and used that power for evil. Luke/Palin actually exceeded them in many ways as well as redeemed them (Raistlin said as much during Palin's test). And they both had their hands damaged. Eh? What's that you say, I have too much time on my hands?

It’s a stretch imo

@@DLSaga fine, but if they travel to the future in book 2 of the latest trilogy to find Palin, and he whips out a green laser sword while sipping on blue milk - I want you to print a retraction! Haha (Anyone under 30 is like what the heck does that mean) 😂

As happy as I am that they are releasing 3 more novels I do wish they would write some more stories that could be expanded on. More on the mages after the Gods came back. I mean there was a novel and stories of various mages and when they got magic back but they could keep going with that story. I would love to read more about the elves in their new homeland and even the elves fighting the minitours in Sil. even the new ogre empire.

Same here. I liked the post War of Souls era. I’d like to see it expanded.

This was a great video about the character. The lesson about pursuing what actually does make you happy is very true, I wish that it didn't seemingly come with the implication that you need to pick between magic and family but that's just me. I'm very thankful you used one of my suggestions, I hope the others will appear as well but I'll just have to wait and see.

It was a thought I had when writing it. You can swap Magic for anything really, it’s a metaphor
@brotherofastudio6310 Жыл бұрын
@@DLSaga True, but none the less I am a bit disappointed that the authors chose that it be magic he would have to give up to be with his family.
@ArdanArianis Жыл бұрын
I don't think that's the case. While it's true that Raistlin, Dalamar and Palin did choose magic over family, other great wizards didn't. Justarius and Lady Jenna of Palanthas (Justarius' daughter) come to mind. They both have whole fulfilling lives, not only dedicated to magic but to his family and friends (Justarius) and other personal endeavours (Jenna's mercantile business). Perhaps the fact that they were both Red Robes says a lot about finding the balance between magic and life.
@brotherofastudio6310 Жыл бұрын
@@ArdanArianis True, it's more that as far as I can tell Palin was the only dedicated magic user hero of the second generation and that there is nobody else who could be called a wizard among them that annoys me.
