Because every other county is already at a higher than usual risk of wildfires, they just aren't under red flags. Yet. I'm sure the national guard is getting ready to be activated, but honestly they are going to be needed for evacuation and refugee settlement if the wildfires start moving into LA proper. 21 hours ago there was 30,000 people under mandatory evacuation I'm not sure if the number has gone over a hundred thousand yet but it's going to be a huge infrastructure challenge to line up emergency refugee camps for the 100,000 or so people that will have no home to go back to. That's the kind of stuff the military excels at. My wife (Marine Mom much more knowledgeable than I am) that depending on how bad it is by the inauguration it may very well be Trumps first move to ask Congress to pass a state of emergency and activate Army Corps of Engineers, Navy Hospital ships at same time National Guard in Pacific gets activated. There are 9.6 million humans in Los Angeles County. If even 30% lose their homes, it will be the largest mass migration event the country has ever seen.
